Responsibilities


Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department per department protocols. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.


Qualifications


Required Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited Sonography Program
Required Minimum Certification
CCI, ARDMS or ARRT-S; BLS certified
Required Minimum Experience
Successful completion of a Sonography Training Program
Preferred Minimum Experience
Prefer one (1) year clinical experience
Required Minimum Skills
Must exhibit excellent communication skills because this position requires frequent verbal and written communications with: physicians, patients, visitors, departmental staff and nursing staff. The employee obtains, presents and discusses clinical information regarding job responsibilities on a routine basis. Candidate must be able to explain or give directions to maintain goodwill, and obtain cooperation with all contacts. Must possess the ability to function independently and under pressure while still actively participating in a team environment. Position requires the employee to exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times.

Must be able to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced work environment. Must have the ability to prioritize appropriately. Must be detail oriented and have the capacity to effectively multitask throughout the work shift. Must have excellent communication skills and the capacity to interact professionally with a variety of “customers”, including but not limited to patients, families, co-workers, volunteers, and physicians throughout the work shift. Must possess the ability to function independently, yet productively as a cooperative team member with various work teams associated with the position. Providence Community Health Centers ob/gyn job description

Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC) is an innovative Federally Qualified Health Center – the largest FQHC in Rhode Island with a 54-year history of caring for the underserved communities in Providence.

PCHC has in-house Ob-Gyns, Dental, Optometry, Podiatry, Dermatology, Asthma/Allergy, Nephrology, ENT, Dermatology, and Nurse Care Management services, on same EMR. We have 9 neighborhood-based primary care patient-centered medical homes with over 120 providers treating 60,000 patients.

About the OB/GYN role at PCHC:

  1. Our OB/GYNs perform complete ambulatory obstetric and gynecological care for PCHC patients and serve as consultants and resources to the Nurse Practitioners, Midwives, Nurses, and Reproductive Health Counselors.
  1. PCHC OB/GYNs admit and care for PCHC patients at Women & Infants Hospital and. perform surgery on PCHC patients at Women & Infants Hospital when medically indicated. Such procedures include (but are not limited to) tubal ligations, c-sections, gynecological surgery, deliveries, etc.
  1. With staff privileges at Women & Infants Hospital, PCHC OB/GYNs physicians attend and take call for Women & Infants Hospital Clinics, Emergency Room, or floors in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and perform deliveries and other OB/GYN services, for hospital patients, some of whom are not PCHC patients.
  1. Our OB/GYNs assure smooth transition of PCHC patients to the care of the Women & Infants Hospital staff if the PCHC OB/GYN physician is not the attending; assure a smooth transition of care back from the WIH to PCHC upon discharge.
  1. PCHC OB/GYNs also participate in health maintenance and cancer screening activities, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, and Peer Review activities at PCHC. This includes medical audits, chart reviews, etc.
  1. As part of PCHC’s Team care model, OB/GYNs work with all members of the Health Care Team towards achieving coordinated patient-centered care.
