The CNC Set-up Machinist - 2nd shift is responsible for the programming and set-up on both 5 and 6-axis milling and lathe machines. The Set-up Machinist requires the use of computer numerically controlled or CNC programs to be used for automating machinists' tools by using computer generated electronic data. You will make an impact in this role by: A CNC Set-up Machinist must be very adept with the usage of various software like CAD or CAM. Needs a strategic mind to decide the best possible sequence of workflow to produce a particular product. Must think quickly and have good problem-solving skills. Must be motivational and know how to set goals and priorities. A CNC Set-Up Machinist has a very varied job profile. Must write CNC programs and necessary documents, or modify existing programs, that help to set up the machines. Must study the drawings of different components that must be manufactured. Then must decide the different tools and operations and the sequence in which they must be carried out, in a manner that utilizes efficient usage of resources. Required to estimate the time needed to finish the job. Reviews three-dimensional CAD blueprints and then translates them onto CAM. May even run a simulation before the process begins. First ask for a sample; if it is satisfactory, order mass production of the product. After programming, must run a quality check and see that products are being manufactured smoothly and efficiently. Must coordinate with the different departments like Production, Engineering, and Quality to make sure that the procedure happens smoothly. Requirements To be considered for the CNC Set-up Machinist - 2nd Shift role, you must have the following minimum qualifications: Must have experience on both 5 and 6-axis machines. Must have superior computer programming skills. Must have excellent reading comprehension skills. Good math skills, especially algebra, trigonometry and physics. Good active listening skills. Must have good problem-solving skills. Must have excellent time management skills. Must have good organizational and planning skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be mechanically inclined. Knowledge of metal shop work. Must be highly detail oriented. Experience And Education: High School diploma required. Associate's degree in CNC programming, a computer-related field or a mechanical field OR Bachelor's degree in computer programming or computer-related field preferred. Knowledge of electronics and machine tools. Experience with Doosan and/or DMU65 machines. Experience with CNC programming. Safety and Personal Protective Equipment: Must adhere to all safety rules in force for the location you are in while performing your job responsibilities. This includes at a customer or supplier location. Must meet requirements for PPE in specific manufacturing areas when you are in those areas including safety shoes and safety glasses.
