Full Spectrum Operations (FSO) in conjunction with By Light is seeking Occupational Health and Safety Specialist administrates general and specific safety policies, procedures, and measures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and coordinates, develops, and presents safety compliance training.

+ Typical duties include coordination of safety compliance and safety requests with the proper follow through to a solution that meets the organization's needs; coordinating, researching, preparing, and presenting safety training, while working with functional managers to identify safety hazards and special safety training needs; as well as writing safety plans, policies, and procedures including coordinating the development of the organization's emergency management and disaster recovery plans.

+ As the Safety and Logistics Specialist, conducts departmental chemical inventories and performs federal, state, and local required inspections such as machine guarding, lock-out/tag-out, respirators, personnel lifts, hand and power tools, Personal Protective Equipment, forklifts, and quarterly building inspections.

+ This position administrates the Hazard Communication Program (waste removal & recycling); fulfills OSHA 300A reporting requirements; conducts, prepares, and/or organizes general local training as needed; maintains safety training records; submits annual budget estimates and tracks expenses related to safety and training administration

+ This position supports the organization's logistics program and warehouse as needed and works adjacent to, and directly supports FSO's Logistics Manager.

+ An Associate's degree with knowledge and one year of relevant experience in U.S. Government Mission Support Operations and Logistics Support, including familiarity and proficiency with power tools, hand tools, forklifts and Pallet Jacks as well as a general understanding and the ability to interpret federal, state and local health and safety regulations applicable to Full Spectrum Operations are required for this position.

+ Two years of Safety Training experience and OSHA 30 hour General Industry Certification are also required. Strong computer skills are necessary (MS Office suite and general computer navigation), as well as follow through of assignments in a timely manner with attention to detail.

+ This position requires excellent communication and people skills with the ability to present information in an interesting and appealing manner both orally and in print as well as the ability to perform in various working environments.
+ Active DoD Secret Clearance

+ By Light does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters; vaccination requirements and testing are subject to the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements; testing is at the cost of the employee.

The Role:

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will focus on risk reduction, injury prevention and drive ownership of safety, health and environmental impacts enhancing the safety culture. The individual will develop, implement, and continuously improve programs within the EHS Management System framework in partnership with the broader Global EHS, engineering, and manufacturing ecosystems. They will also ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal, industry and consensus standards, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

+ Lead projects aimed at anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling safety hazards.

+ Ensure the EHS Management System elements are applied effectively throughout operations. Develop new procedures, inspections, trainings, or reports as needed.

+ Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents and ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Lead the team in developing effective root cause analysis and countermeasures.

+ Develop and guide management to improve their effectiveness as safety leaders.

+ Conduct site audits, inspections, evaluations, and reviews as necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related disciplines or equivalent subject matter knowledge skills and abilities acquired through work.

+ 3+ years' experience working in a position with responsibility for safety programs preferably in a manufacturing or industrial segment.

+ Experience developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and training.

+ Ability to be self-directed and complete work with minimal day-to-day supervision.

+ Must be able to work 1st shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or other professional certification.

+ Experience working with union partnerships

+ Applied knowledge in health and safety disciplines including Hazard Communication, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, Incident Investigation, Ergonomics, Behavioral Based Safety, Machine Guarding and Lean Manufacturing

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

+ Understanding of ISO 45001
