Job Description
The OccupationalTherapist:
* Evaluates, assesses, and plans treatment including orienting patient and significant others to the purposes and processes of OT evaluation and treatment.
* Evaluates patient impairments, disability and handicap appropriate to patient diagnosis, life roles, age development, functional status, and medical condition.
* Facilitates patient participation in the therapy process and collaborates with others advocating for patients and family to achieve desirable outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
* Work requires the level of knowledge normally acquired by completing a Master's program in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
* Current Illinois License to practice as an OccupationalTherapist.
* Current CPR certification required.
* Able to develop professional skills by completing development plans, participating in continuing education and in-service offerings, using written resources to keep current with advancements.
* Understanding of the growth and development of infant, child, adolescent and geriatric patients.
* Ability to interpret growth and development related information to assure patient needs are met.
* Analytical ability to gather and interpret data from patient's charts and to recommend solutions for treatment related problems.
* Interpersonal skills are needed to communicate with other health care professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Our OccupationalTherapists/OTs help patients who have debilitating conditions improve the functions of performing everyday tasks in the home. OccupationalTherapists/OTs use treatments to develop the daily living skills of their patients and the basic motor functions of patients, as well as to compensate for any loss of function that patient may be experiencing. * Patient Care Develops, implements, and adjusts individualized treatment care plans for cardiac and pulmonary patients in collaboration with hospital physicians according to standards set by American Association Cardiac Vascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
* Patient Care Supervises assigned exercise sessions in outpatient cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation, including monitoring patients for inappropriate responses to exercise, assessment of vital signs and EKG/telemetry and instructing patients on safe exercise techniques.
* Patient Care Performs all aspects of Phase I cardiopulmonary rehab including ambulation of referred patients, education on cardiac risk factors and completing the departmentâ€s role in discharge planning.
* Patient Care Documentation Documents patient care information and ensures timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Patient Education Educates patients according to policy can include group classes or one on one instruction.
* Exercises Facility Safety Ensures safe exercise facility by completing daily cleaning, inspecting equipment and reporting problems to appropriate personnel.
* Patient Initial Assessment Orients and provides an initial assessment to patients referred to the program.
* Community Health Events Participates in community health events as assigned.
* Performance improvement Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement programs in order to comply with HFAP, CMS, and AACVPR accreditation standards.
* Emergency Code Team Member Serves as a code team member during emergency situations.
* Abnormal Findings & Patient Progress Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal finding and patient progress.
* New Staff Orientation Orients new staff to the department and supervises student interns.
* Exercise Prescription for Cardiopulmonary Rehab Serves as a staff resource on exercise prescription for cardiopulmonary rehab patients.
Qualifications
* Required Bachelor's Degree
* Preferred Master's Degree
* 3 months Clinical exercise physiology internship Required
* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required
* American College of Sports Medicine - Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP)- Location specific requirement. Required within 180 days of hire.
* American Association Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehab (AACVPR)- Location specific requirement. Required within 180 days of hire.
* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association- Location specific requirement. Required within 180 days of hire.
