Position Summary
As an Occupational Therapist at Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the functional independence of patients both treating and recovering from hand and upper extremity injuries and/or chronic illnesses. You will design and implement innovative and comprehensive treatment plans, including therapeutic exercises and techniques that will help patient's return to their everyday activities, from work to play. Essential Responsibilities
Provide high-quality and comprehensive occupational therapy care as ordered by physicians within the scope of Certified/Licensed Occupational Therapist, including, but not limited to:
Evaluations
Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate patients' physical and functional limitations related to hand and upper extremity conditions. This includes evaluation of range of motion, strength, edema, wounds, neurovascular status, splint needs, independence with daily actives, and return to work status.
Utilize standardized assessment tools and clinical observations to identify areas of impairment and establish baseline functional status.
Treatments
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices to address identified impairments and functional goals. Adjust plans as needed.
Execute innovative therapeutic exercise programs, incorporating the latest orthopedic and rehabilitation techniques.
Provide patient education on adaptive techniques, home exercise programs, and strategies for enhancing daily activities.
Fabricate and fit custom orthoses and prefabricated splints.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide parent and caregiver coaching with practical home strategies (routines, transitions, sleep supports, organization systems, sensory diets, etc.).
Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (medical providers, psychologists, coaches, educational advocates) to coordinate care and align treatment goals.
Contribute to clinic programming as needed, such as group skill-building sessions (e.g., regulation groups, school readiness, handwriting, organization).
Maintain accurate, timely, AI-assisted documentation that meets insurance billing and compliance standards.
Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training to ensure alignment with clinic values, patient experience standards, and clinical excellence.
Qualifications:
Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Michigan OT license in good standing (OTR/L).
Experience working with children and adolescents (preferred).
Strong understanding of ADHD-related challenges, including executive functioning, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and functional independence.
Comfortable collaborating in a team-based model and communicating clearly with parents, teachers (as appropriate), and other providers.
Eligible and willing to become credentialed with insurance panels (if applicable to your role structure).

Clinical Duties
* Interpretation and implementation of referrals; evaluates patient functional status and therapeutic needs through standardized assessment and testing; establishes functional baseline to be used throughout treatment as a gauge of progress and optimal functional independence.

Administration Duties
* Documenting evaluations, patient treatment plans, treatments performed, and progress; indicates condition in relationship to established goals and alterations to treatment plan to enhance therapy potential.
* Documenting in the electronic health record per compliance timelines
* Responsible for communicating to leadership any limitations that prevent timely documentation
* For each person served the therapist maintains accurate, legible and complete records.
* Serving on committees and task forces
* Participating in process improvement
* Demonstrates time management skills.
* Supervision of COTA, Rehab Clinical Assistant, OT students, COTA students and volunteers, athletic trainer
