Job Description:
An OccupationalTherapist (OT) will implement treatment programs to assist pediatric patients with physical, cognitive, sensory and social/emotional disabilities or delays by planning and administering occupational therapy in the home and community.
Responsibilities:
* Provides high quality care and meets the needs of the patient and family by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results; developing goals appropriate for child; creating and implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
* Assists pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL's, and social/emotional development and improves their level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
* Participates in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
* Coordinates with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with the physician order.
* Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
* Documents patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
* Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Responsibilities
Our OccupationalTherapists/OTs help patients who have debilitating conditions improve the functions of performing everyday tasks in the home. OccupationalTherapists/OTs use treatments to develop the daily living skills of their patients and the basic motor functions of patients, as well as to compensate for any loss of function that patient may be experiencing. OccupationalTherapists/OTs administer skilled care to clients requiring intermittent professional services and teach the family and other members of the health care team. These services are performed by OccupationalTherapists/OTs in accordance with the physicians' orders and the established plan of care, under the direction and supervision of the Branch Director.

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
An OccupationalTherapist is an individual licensed to perform examination, treatment or instructions specializing in techniques of activity re-education, especially for those patients who are disabled of weakened. The therapist provides instruction, support and supervision in assisting the patient to perform activities that fit both the disabilities and interests of the patient. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the occupationaltherapist works collaboratively with the other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of care.
Requirements
Education:
Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy association; or is eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association; or has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted by the U.S. Public Health service, except that such determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State seeking qualification as an occupationaltherapist after December 31, 1977.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must have a license to practice occupational therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy. Successful completion of an approved course in BLS upon hire and certification maintained throughout employment.
Experience:
One (1) year experience as an OccupationalTherapist in a hospital or outpatient environment preferred.

Our OccupationalTherapists help patients who have debilitating conditions improve the functions of performing everyday tasks in the home.
