A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OCCUPATIONALTHERAPIST (OT)
In this position, you play an essential role in using occupational therapy procedures to help improve mobility for our patients. Working closely with the physician, you assist with evaluating the level of function, help develop the plan of care, prepare clinical notes, consult with the family and other agency personnel, and participate in in-service programs. You develop and revise the plan of care with the physician and other health care team members. You then execute that plan and provide therapeutic treatments. Attentive to detail, you closely evaluate equipment needs to ensure we are providing the optimal care to each patient.
You provide all services in accordance with the plan of care. Meticulously, you prepare clinical and progress notes. The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions. You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. Organized and efficient, you review the plan of care as often as needed, but at least every 60 days. You consistently evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and make plans for discharge as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OCCUPATIONALTHERAPIST (OT)
Graduation certificate of an accredited occupational therapy curriculum, OR eligibility for the national registration examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association, OR 2+ years of experience as an occupationaltherapist having received a satisfactory grade on a proficiency exam
CPR certification within 60 days from date of hire
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Examine patients' medical histories
Test and measure the patients' strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, motor function, and a full range of other assessments
Determine patients' ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community or workplace after injury or illness
Develop treatment plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome
Coordinate with other members of the treatment team to enhance the care of the patient
Conduct patient education
Contribute to facility goal and objectives
Anything else that is determined to be necessary to enhance the services provided to each patient
Qualification Information
To be considered for this position, the candidate must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy institution and licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Oklahoma. One year of experience is required unless candidate has obtained a graduate level degree in physical therapy. Continuing education requirements are equal to that mandated by the physical therapy licensing board. The physical therapist is required to uphold all professional standards as outlined in the Oklahoma Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of Physical Therapists guidelines. The physical therapist must be able to use proper body mechanics to provide any necessary maneuvers that are needed by a patient.

As an OccupationalTherapist, you'll contribute to our success in the following ways:
+ Evaluates the occupational therapy patient to determine the rehabilitation needs, potential for achievement, and develops a plan of care in accordance with the findings.

+ Assists patient and/or caregiver in securing necessary equipment, which may include fabrication of custom- made splints.
+ Instructs the patient and/or caregiver in the therapy home program providing modification and clarification when necessary.
+ Counsels and instructs the patient and family in meeting therapy and related needs.
+ Supervises and/or provides clinical direction to the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), Home Health Aide (HHA), and clinical staff to ensure the therapy care plan is followed and quality of care is being provided.
