UPMC Shadyside is looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our team on a full-time basis! + The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm, and an occasional weekend rotation. The person in this position may work in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Proficient in EKG interpretation. Conducts non-invasive cardiology testing which may include stress testing, Holter monitoring, and the technical functions of the pacemaker clinic. Provides group and individual exercise therapy for patients with chronic disease. Applies EKG telemetry and accurately performs 12 lead EKGs. Performs initial assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, safely and effectively administers individual and group exercise therapies, evaluates progress, and documents outcomes on patients to improve functional capacity and to offset the detrimental effects of inactivity. Educate on disease states, recovery, smoking cessation, hypertension, diabetes, medication compliance, nutrition, lipid management and stress management. Maintains open communications with coworkers, physicians and other dept staff.

+ Prepares for and responds to emergencies in a manner consistent with department guidelines
+ Plays an active role in developing, implementing and gathering outcome data for the annual quality improvement initiative.
+ Conducts, organizes and participates in meetings, in-services and continuing education.

+ Developments and documents individualized patient treatment plan, accurate with respect to patient's age and medical history, its implementation and monitoring of progress and modifications as indicated.
+ Completes evaluation and assessment of patients with accurate and adequate documentation
+ Develops inpatient discharge plan and/or outpatient discharge plan with transition to either Phase III CPR or home/community fitness program. Inpatient plan includes recommendation to Phase II CPR as indicated. Outpatient CPRSs will see that progress toward goals at discharge is clearly and effectively communicated to patient and physician.
+ May conduct a variety of non-invasive cardiology testing including but not limited to 12 Lead EKGs, pacer clinics technical work, Holter monitoring hook ups and processing, and stress testing.
+ Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum bachelor's level preparation.
+ 1 year of Cardiopulmonary Rehab experience and ACSM Certification.
+ 60 hours of continuing education every 3 years required.
+ Active membership in professional organization(s) preferred Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ BLS and ACLS or a willingness to acquire both is required.
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. ACSM CEP, RCEP or related certification is preferred.

Demonstrate awareness and ability to implement Occupational Therapy treatment following all necessary safety precautions for self and patient.
Ensure required documentation is completed for all patients within specific timeframes.

Ensure clear communication between the therapist and patient/family or other members of the medical team.
Attends and participates in mandatory staff meetings.
Demonstrate independence in professional growth through continuing education or other sources such as workshops, seminars, etc.

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program with 3-5 years of experience working with the pediatric population on the developmental needs of the patient. Early Intervention experience preferred.
Maintains current Occupational Therapy License in the State of Pennsylvania.
Maintains current NBCOT certification.
Capacity to develop proficiency in the performance of various treatment protocols.
Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and work with all staff including other therapists and members of the medical team.
Experience in designing developmental treatment plans and feeding plans.
Must have working knowledge of computers to complete documentation electronically and in a timely manner.
Functional Requirements:

About the Position The OccupationalTherapist provides comprehensive Occupational therapy services to students, and participates as a related service in delivering an educational program aimed at allowing each student to attain his or her maximum functional potential. He or she works with other staff members as an integral part of a professional team to provide an appropriate educational program for each student. Responsibilities
Provides screening and/or complete evaluation of Occupational therapy needs of students.
Develops specific Occupational therapy plans for use with students.
Trains, assists, and consults with other members of classroom teams to maximize effective implementation of Occupational therapy goals throughout the school day.
Demonstrates competency in both group and individual Occupational Therapy activities.
Clearly demonstrates competency in delivering individual and group therapy sessions.
Qualifications
BS, MS certificate, OTR from an accredited Occupational Therapy Department from a college/university.
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania
Successful completion of a pediatric affiliation or previous experience with a pediatric population is preferred.
Act 33/34 Clearances; FBI Clearance.

Responsibilities
As a Home Health OccupationalTherapist, You will:
Perform occupational therapy evaluation and treatment of patients based upon physician orders, including recommendation and procurement of adaptive equipment
Establish measurable goals and develop treatment plans to move patients toward their maximum level of independence and/or function
Maintain communication among the treatment team, physician, patient, and family members as applicable
Maintain thorough and timely documentation of services provided to ensure proper billing
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct patient care and patient-related activities in accordance with state practice act
Qualifications
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Education program approved by CAPTE
Current OccupationalTherapist licensure in State and American Heart Association CPR certification required; CPR certification may be offered and completed upon hire
Two (2) years of experience in adult occupational therapy, home health experience preferred
Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills; physical therapy skills per competency checklist

3. Attend, participate in, and/or review information to discuss results of required evaluations and IEP reports.
4. Schedule students effectively, efficiently to receive occupational therapy services.
5. Implement individual, group, classroom, consultative services as appropriate to meet the needs of students in their educational programs.
6. Utilize best practices; evidence based research, and appropriate materials to implement therapeutic services.
7. Consult with educational and other therapy staff and parents regarding occupational therapy needs and services in school.
8. Maintain working student files in accordance with department procedures.
9. Complete all documentation within required timelines.
10. Prepare and complete ACCESS billing for eligible students.
11. Monitor and document student progress based on data collection information.
12. Submit current treatment schedules and updates as needed to administration.
13. Ensure and maintain student confidentiality and protect student data in accordance with HIPAA/FERPA regulations and AIU policy.
14. Demonstrate familiarity with use of email, word documents, excel, and online IEP writing systems as required.
15. Advise AIU administrative staff of caseload trends, district needs, and specific student concerns in a timely manner.
16. Provide supervision to occupational therapy assistants in delivery of services to students in accordance with practice act and licensure laws.
17. Attend staff meetings, in-services, and serve on staff committees as required.
