UPMC Shadyside is looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our team on a full-time basis! + The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:30 pm, and an occasional weekend rotation. The person in this position may work in the inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Proficient in EKG interpretation. Conducts non-invasive cardiology testing which may include stress testing, Holter monitoring, and the technical functions of the pacemaker clinic. Provides group and individual exercise therapy for patients with chronic disease. Applies EKG telemetry and accurately performs 12 lead EKGs. Performs initial assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, safely and effectively administers individual and group exercise therapies, evaluates progress, and documents outcomes on patients to improve functional capacity and to offset the detrimental effects of inactivity. Educate on disease states, recovery, smoking cessation, hypertension, diabetes, medication compliance, nutrition, lipid management and stress management. Maintains open communications with coworkers, physicians and other dept staff.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepares for and responds to emergencies in a manner consistent with department guidelines
+ Plays an active role in developing, implementing and gathering outcome data for the annual quality improvement initiative.
+ Conducts, organizes and participates in meetings, in-services and continuing education.
+ Demonstrates annual competencies as required by department
+ Participation in the Co-Worker Feedback program if asked
+ Promotes effective communication and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork within the department, the hospital and to other health care professionals.
+ Upon request by Manager, assists with staff development, orientation of new staff, special projects and community programs.

+ Developments and documents individualized patient treatment plan, accurate with respect to patient's age and medical history, its implementation and monitoring of progress and modifications as indicated.
+ Completes evaluation and assessment of patients with accurate and adequate documentation
+ Develops inpatient discharge plan and/or outpatient discharge plan with transition to either Phase III CPR or home/community fitness program. Inpatient plan includes recommendation to Phase II CPR as indicated. Outpatient CPRSs will see that progress toward goals at discharge is clearly and effectively communicated to patient and physician.
+ May conduct a variety of non-invasive cardiology testing including but not limited to 12 Lead EKGs, pacer clinics technical work, Holter monitoring hook ups and processing, and stress testing.
+ Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum bachelor's level preparation.
+ 1 year of Cardiopulmonary Rehab experience and ACSM Certification.
+ 60 hours of continuing education every 3 years required.
+ Active membership in professional organization(s) preferred Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ BLS and ACLS or a willingness to acquire both is required.
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. ACSM CEP, RCEP or related certification is preferred.

o Successfully completed 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum (or be in the process of accumulating supervised clinical experience);
o Performed at least 9 months of supervised full-time SLP services after obtaining a master's or doctoral degree in SLP or a related field; and
o Successfully completed a national examination in SLP approved by the HHS Secretary. Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.

Purpose:
Works in either or both inpatient and outpatient settings. Implements treatment plans established by a CPRS Level 2 or Sr. CPRS, including progressive ambulation, exercise equipment orientation and training, education on disease states, smoking cessation, recovery and risk factor modifications. Evaluates patient progress while implementing plan to improve functional capacity. Documents exercise session details, response and progression and educate according to established plan. At some sites provides orientation, oversight, and completion of necessary paper work for participants in the Employee Wellness Program. Maintains open communication with coworkers, physicians and other department staff.
Responsibilities:
+ Participates in the Co-Worker Feedback program if asked
+ Completes annual competencies as required by department
+ Provides adequate orientation, oversight, and assures completion of necessary paper work for participants in the Employee Wellness Program
+ Prepares for and responds to emergencies in a manner consistent with department guidelines
+ Promotes effective communication and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork within the department, the hospital and with other health care professionals.
+ Upon request by Manager, assists with staff development, special projects and community programs
+ Conducts, organizes and participates in meetings, inservices and continuing education
+ Implementation of individualized patient treatment plan established by a CPRS or Sr. CPRS and monitoring of patient progress.
+ Develops inpatient discharge plans.
+ Utilizes clinical support staff in a manner that both verbally and non-verbally promotes respect, confidence and a team atmosphere.
+ Modification and documentation of treatment with accuracy and with respect to patient's age and medical history.
+ Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum Bachelor's level preparation.

Supervisory Responsibilities
