Under general direction, is responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention to students pursuant to the Individual Family Service Plan, Individual Education Plan or Interim Individual Education Plan in accordance with agency policies, regulations and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and standards of profession. Participates in consultative process with parents and team members.
Responsibilities and Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Physical Therapist - Children's Services will include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides physical therapy evaluation of students annually in areas of muscle tone and/or strength, range of motion, reflex patterns, gross motor capacity, posture and joint alignment, patterns of locomotion and/or ambulation, activities of daily living, including transfers and wheelchair management, need for adaptive equipment and recommendations for changes in present equipment.
Develops a treatment plan and goals based on assessment.
Maintains daily and monthly attendance records.
Ensures individuals receive services appropriate to their needs and consistent with educational goals and regulatory requirements.
Selects educational, recreational and social activities in order to aid students in adjusting to their functional level.
Teaches adaptive skills necessary to perform daily living and/or vocational tasks.
Provides and participates in in-service education for other personnel relevant to techniques and objectives of program.
Serves and participates as a member of interdisciplinary team at team meetings, Annual Reviews, Case Presentations, In-Services, etc. as required by each program.
Integrates therapeutic intervention techniques into programs and/or home of students served through consultation with parent/Client and staff at team meetings, case conferences or through other informal contacts.
Assists in overall rehabilitation of students' medical/psychiatric condition. Documents therapy activities and results on student's records and periodic reports.
Records progress on all active cases in therapy, monitors therapy status, and makes appropriate recommendations as changes occur.
Refers students to other clinical services if such referral is felt appropriate.
Fits adaptive devices for students use such as splints or braces.
Participates in Initial Evaluation and Intake processes.
Completes all required documentation in a timely and accurate fashion.
Provides supervision to Physical Therapy students and Physical Therapy Assistants as needed.
Assists with other duties such as arrival, dismissal, feeding, bathrooming, classroom management as directed.
Maintains equipment and orders supplies as required.
Performs other related duties as requested.

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Good interpersonal skills are required in order to interact effectively with employees, coworkers, students, their families, other programs, outside contacts, etc.
Due to sensitive nature of the position, must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.

What you'll do
The Physical Therapist works directly with individuals to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical function and prevent disabilities, in accordance with principles and practices of the profession. The Physical Therapist may provide evaluation and treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation and/or outpatient settings. The Physical Therapist oversees services provided by Physical Therapy Assistants and aides. They are required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary care team. They may assist in quality improvement and new programming initiative development. This position reports to the Rehab Supervisor, Rehab Manager and Director of Rehabilitation Services.
Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act
Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Performs a comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessment as evidenced by clinical documentation. Identifies those functional problems that require physical therapy intervention based on an accurate assessment of the patients status.
Must be capable of understanding and carrying out prescribed therapy services as requested by physicians and/or midlevel providers.
Develops a plan of care to promote optimum function and safety, as documented in the clinical record.
Completes all required documentation following evaluation, treatment and procedures and ensures that documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved.
Demonstrates the ability to evaluate and treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes
Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services
Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner.
Ability to handle and operate therapy equipment, including but not limited to: safe patient handling equipment, exercise machines, and/or modalities
Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication
Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promotes professional standards in physical therapy
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities
Work with industry leading experts to execute design, analysis, and validation high voltage devices, working with high voltage dielectric and or thermal insulation materials, familiar with synthesis, processing and testing, materials including, liquid, gel, oil, epoxy resins, gases, polymer, etc.

Collaborate with engineers and scientists from across the Vernova Advanced Research Center and business segments, to advance the energy transition.
Required Qualifications
Current enrollment in a full-time Ph.D. degree program in materials science, chemistry, electrochemistry, electrical engineering, or related disciplines at an ABET accredited university.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
