Position Summary
The OT - Occupational Therapist provides direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
NBCOT certified upon hire, but renewal is optional going forward
Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy (BSOT or MSOT)
Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
One (1) year experience in post acute care or related setting preferred
CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times

Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department

Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures

Where You'll Work
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility department at St. Anthony Hospital is a 17-bed unit with a dedicated focus on providing intensive rehabilitation services to maximize return to independence and function at home and in the community. The unit offers Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and Case Management services, as well as consultation services by wound care, nutrition, patient educators, orthotists and integrative healing specialists. Specialized rehabilitation nursing care is provided 24 hours a day to ensure medical monitoring.
Medical team members including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants see patients daily to ensure patients are meeting rehabilitation and medical goals for discharge. All patients that come to this department must go through a qualification process to be accepted into the program. We do not get overflow from other departments. The IRF provides services to adults across the lifespan for both typical and non-typical rehabilitation diagnoses, including but not limited to patients following stroke, traumatic or non-traumatic spinal cord injury and major multiple trauma including multiple injured extremities, traumatic or non-trauma brain dysfunction, neurological impairments such as Parkinson's Disease or Multiple Sclerosis, and for significant deconditioning following a complicated medical hospitalization. The team has a significant amount of experience in rehab as well as support from therapy partners for patient care and collaboration. A physician is on the unit daily for rounding, medical collaboration, and patient meetings. We are a close-knit group of very compassionate caregivers and are all dedicated to our practice, have a strong interest in rehab medicine and we seek candidates who like seeing success and improvements in their patients.

Position Summary:

The occupational therapist contracted or employed is responsible for the implementation of standards of care for occupational therapy services and for adherence to all conditions outlined in the Service or Employment Agreement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes responsibility for the ongoing interdisciplinary assessment and development of the individualized plan of care in partnership with the patient, representative (if any), and caregiver(s).
Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care.
Provides patient, caregiver, and family counseling.
Provides patient and caregiver education.
Communicates with the physician who is responsible for the home health plan of care and other health care practitioners (as appropriate) related to the current home health plan of care.
Evaluates patient's functional status (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication skills, self-care ability, work capacity, etc.).
Evaluates home environment for hazards or barriers to more independent living.
Identifies equipment needs.
Participates in the development of the total plan of care.
For patients who plan to return to work, the occupational therapist may perform work capacity evaluation and may refer to specialized vocational training in accordance with Organization policy.
Develops treatment program and establishes goals for improved function.
May teach new skills or retrain patient in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury, in accordance with Organization policy.
May fabricate splints and instruct patient in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function.
