Qualifications and Requirements
Current licensure as a Physical or OccupationalTherapist (Sorry, No PTAs or COTAs).
Malpractice/Liability Insurance (may be purchased at the time of job offer).
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, navigate stairs and varied home environments, and perform physical assessments as needed
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to and from member homes
Proficient with technology: able to navigate online portals, upload documents, and use your preferred device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) for all work tasks
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
Home safety assessment background
Knowledge (Familiarity) of durable medical equipment
Experience with home modifications
Work history with diverse medical conditions

Valid Occupational Therapy license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Summary:
The OccupationalTherapist (OT) provides comprehensive, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help patients develop, recover, and enhance the skills necessary for independent daily living. Working across diverse settings, the OT evaluates patient needs, diagnoses functional limitations, and designs individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique goals. Through direct, hands-on interventions and the use of adaptive techniques and specialized equipment, the OT empowers patients and educates their families on strategies to optimize functional independence and improve overall quality of life.
Essential Work Functions:
Create personalized therapy plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based practices, and patient goals
Deliver individualized occupational therapy interventions and treatments in accordance with the established treatment plan
Provide direct, hands-on therapy using adaptive techniques, modalities, and assistive devices to improve functional abilities in daily living and work-related tasks
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, techniques, and strategies to enhance independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated, holistic care
Track patient progress through regular evaluations, modify treatment plans as needed, and maintain accurate documentation in the medical record
Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in occupational therapy
Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards to maintain a secure and supportive therapy environment
Collaborate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued patient progress in community or home-based settings
Perform additional duties assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

Mabton School District OccupationalTherapist Director of Student Special Services Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Registered OccupationalTherapist provides services to students with disabilities, ages birth to 21, for them to benefit from their program of special education instruction.
Statement of duty/responsibility:
Provides direct and indirect occupational therapy services as specified in each students' Individual Education Program (IEP) plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks involved in fulfilling the above duty/responsibility:
* Plans, implements and monitors activities that allow students to access and benefit from their specialized instruction. The focus of these services includes, but is not limited to: academic performance, fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, work skills, and sensory-motor activities.
* Assesses and makes environmental and other adaptations to allow students to access and benefit from their program of specialized instruction.
* Provides clinical direction to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA).
* Provides training to special education paraprofessionals, and others as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the student's physical, motor and sensory functioning.
* Maintains an inventory of District OT assistive equipment.

As appropriate, consult with teachers, school administration, parents, and others regarding students' physical, motor, and sensory development.
Tasks involved in fulfilling the above duty/responsibility:
* Consult with school staff, administration, and parents in improving students' motor and sensory-motor functioning.
* Collaborates with school staff and/or parents in developing, implementing, evaluating, and
maintaining occupational therapy interventions.
Statement of duty/responsibility:
Functions as a member of the special education team in providing special education services to students with disabilities.
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
* Skilled in:
* Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Coordinates the delivery of occupational therapy services with classroom teachers, special education staff and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students.
* Assesses the motor, visual-motor and sensory-motor functioning of students referred for special education evaluation. Helps determine the need for occupational therapy services.
* Maintains an accurate record of therapy sessions, consultations and other pertinent activities.
Major field of study or degree emphasis: Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
MENTAL DEMANDS
Required to deal with a wide range of student, staff and public behaviors and needs in a positive and service-oriented
manner. May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students or parents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Amount of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and twisting will vary depending on the age of students and classroom assignments. Physical capabilities also require lifting and carrying (no more than 50 lbs.) pushing and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and significant finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires approximately 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing. Maintaining good hygiene is essential.
