As a Medical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintain and update patient medical records, including vital signs, treatments, and medications, and review immunization records.

Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology at OHSU is recruiting a full-time Comprehensive Ophthalmologist for its affiliated clinic located in Astoria, Oregon.
This position will join an established and highly regarded University-based practice with clinical, research, and educational responsibilities, and will hold an academic appointment. It has a strong established referral base and an active surgical load. The group practice consists of 12 optometrists and 52 ophthalmologists offering sub-specialty services in cornea, vitreoretinal disease, ophthalmic pathology and oncology, uveitis and ocular immunology, glaucoma, oculoplastics, neuro-ophthalmology, low vision rehabilitation, and ophthalmic genetics.
The ideal candidate must be board certified or board eligible. Oregon and Washington state medical licensures are required. A competitive benefit package will be offered and housing support is provided on a time limited basis.
Function/Duties of Position
This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology. The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU and the School of Medicine and include: teaching medical students, house staff, paramedical personnel and the regional medical community; providing clinical care to patients of the University Hospital and Clinics, and affiliated hospitals and clinics; engaging in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups as approved by the Department Chair. Required Qualifications
Education and Experience: Requires a current, valid MD license and completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency program. Must be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Knowledge and Skills: Strong clinical and patient assessment skills. Detail oriented and meticulous in all aspects of work. Requires excellent organizational skills and strong communication and patient relations skills. Responsible for providing direct resident care and supervision of residents needs per individualized service/care plan, monitors residents for change of condition and signs/symptoms of illness according to federal and state laws and regulations and according to the policies of the Community. Responsible to communicate and document resident changes or concerns to Health Services Director. Assist in supervision of resident assistants.

HEALTH SERVICES DIRECTOR/CHARGE NURSE
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist residents with medications as ordered by their physician(s).
Documents all functions related to medication management as required by regulation, and by community protocols as defined in the medication training program.
Obtains, receives, and stores medication(s) from pharmacy.
Participates in the medication training program and demonstrates competency per the competency checklist.
Maintains order, cleanliness in medication storage area.
Assist residents with daily bath, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for activities within the community, reminders of medical appointments, and basic room care.
Provide functions as directed by supervisor including daily and ongoing records including vital signs, weight, and measure residents, and observe and report presence of skin breakdowns; review care plans daily; report changes in resident conditions to supervisor; and record all necessary charting entries and report all accidents and incidents.
Prepare residents for meals and snacks and perform after-meal resident care.
Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect; know and comply with Residents' Rights rules; and promptly report all resident complaints, accidents, and incidents to supervisor.
Assist as directed in proper admission, transfer and discharge of residents, inventory resident possessions and report defective equipment to administration.
Understand and use Universal Precautions and follow established infections control, hazardous communication, and other safety rules; ensure cleanliness of assigned residents' rooms; properly maintain and record resident restraints; and promptly report all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor.
Attend and participate in orientation, training, educational activities, and staff meeting.
Any other tasks, assignments, projects, or requests as deemed by management.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly.
Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.
High School education preferred.
Must be able to squat, reach, stretch without distress, Must be able to tolerate extended periods walking, standing.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of Qualified Medication Aide program with current license. 18 - 24 months experience in a similar position, CPR/First Aid certified preferred.
EDUCATION:
Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred. Attendance at mandatory in-service training. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
