Position Purpose :
This position provides general administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources & Employee Development by conducting a wide variety of complex duties requiring a high degree of accuracy. These duties may include payroll management, employee benefit management, conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions. This position will assist in all human resource related functions as needed to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws. Position requires integrity, initiative, discretion, and tact in day-to-day contact with various levels of Company personnel.

To fulfill the intent of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all the people of Hawaii.
The Same Day Surgery/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (SDS/PACU) RN provides care for patients Pre-operatively and Post-operatively. Procedure types include: Endoscopy, ENT, Gynecology, Neurology, Orthopedic, General, Obstetrics, and Ophthalmology.
Pre-operatively - patients are fully assessed for all physical, emotional, spiritual, and family needs prior to surgery. There is a complete medication reconciliation, which will include all over the counter, herbal supplements, as well as all prescription medications. A complete physical evaluation is completed by the Anesthesia Provider, and RNs in this area will assist with any necessary preoperative sedation of anesthesia needs. The RN will also complete a physical assessment as well and complete set of vital sings, insert a peripheral IV, and medicate as per orders.
Activities vital to the care of post-anesthesia and post-operative patients include: monitoring vital signs, managing postoperative pain, monitoring the surgical site, treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting, treating post-anesthetic shivering and airway management. PACU RNs often coordinate the delivery of care for post-anesthesia patients following surgical procedures so the safety, physical, psychological and educational needs of the patients and family members are met.
PACU provides extended recovery care for up to 6 hours to patients requiring closer observation. Anesthesia can include general, regional or local anesthesia. The immediate post anesthesia period includes patients who have surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures
The SDS area is a 5 bay unit and the PACU is a 5 bay unit directly adjacent to the Main Operating Room. PACU staff are on-call Monday - Friday after the last case has completed recovery until 7am the following morning and Saturday & Sunday 7:00 am to 7:00 am (24 hr. periods at a time) and on major holidays.
Operating Room (OR) - Cases scheduled 0645 to 1730 Monday through Friday which consists of 5 operating rooms. Services are provided to patients of all ages, 1 year of age to adult requiring major or minor surgical specialty services - Cardiovascular, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology. Obstetrics/Gynecologic, Otolaryngology, General, And Trauma surgery.
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Has 24-hour oversight and accountability for nursing unit(s) and assigned area(s), including administrative, clinical and operational management, consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.
• Develops, establishes, and monitors plans and activities to ensure:
o Delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
o Effective planning and coordination of resources.
o Compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
o Achievement of goals and objectives.
• Participates in the long-term planning of assigned unit(s) and area(s).

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current BLS/HCP certification. Additional certification(s) may be required based on area of assignment i.e., TNCC, ACLS, NRP, Fetal monitoring.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum three (3) years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
• One (1) year as a charge nurse, clinical lead or other supervisory experience.
• Experience to demonstrate:
o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
