    Utilizes Radiation Therapy Equipment, under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist, for the delivery of prescribed doses of ionizing radiation and records pertinent treatment parameters as indicated. Performs simulation procedures, accurately outlines treatment portals and documents parameters in the treatment record. Responsibilities: * Demonstrates a thorough understanding of equipment operation * Demonstrates the ability to turn equipment on/off properly and perform quality assurance tests/procedures daily. * Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment and patient setup problems. * Immediately reports any machine malfunctions or deviations to the physicist and appropriately documents the incident in the machine maintenance log. * Demonstrates the skill and abilities to accurately assess whether or not simulated procedures can be performed or reproduced on the linear accelerator/simulator and modifies setups accordingly. * Displays ability to use and fabricate proper immobilization devices and techniques. * Able to treat/simulate SRS and SBRT patients. * Demonstrates the ability to accurately access and document patient care activities and hospital processes * Uses computer systems accurately and appropriately. Monitors simulator/treatment schedule to ensure minimal conflicts. Accurately charges patients for procedures performed and devices used. * Assigns patient treatment appointments by coordinating with physician and therapist schedules, as well as the patient's chemotherapy schedule. * Ensures that all patients scheduled have diagnostic films and reports prior to simulation time. * Ensures that patients to be simulated/treated have a signed consent form and positive pathology report in their chart. * Uses accurate and consistent format in documenting setup and machine parameters in the treatment record. * Properly labels all portal films with the appropriate information. * Schedules CT Rad Plans as needed. * Demonstrates the ability to interpret instructions from the Physician, Physicist and Dosimetrist * Able to take orders from the physician regarding specific patient setups and proceed with the appropriate care. * Involves Physicist or Dosimetrist on complicated and/or non-standard patient setups. * Assists other Radiation Therapists as necessary * Assists the Radiation Therapist in positioning patient. * Assists in moving the patient to and from the treatment table as necessary. * Communicates with patients and their families in a courteous, friendly and helpful manner. * Is receptive to changes in work schedule as indicated, displaying an attitude of professionalism and cooperation. * Willingly assists others as time permits, always using time constructively. * Duties of Radiation Therapist * Schedules patients correctly. * Document and bill correctly. * Scan documents into MOSAIQ when necessary. * Duties specific to Linear Accelerator * Performs chart audit of billing and proper documentation weekly specific to linear accelerator. * Reviews all treatment charges specific to the linear accelerator by the end of the day. * Reports any significant change in patient's setup to physician. * Reports irregularities in patient setup to physician. * Duties specific to Simulator * Performs chart audit of billing and proper documentation weekly, as well as final chart audit at completion of treatment. * Maintains water bath log and cleans water bath as recommended by health guidelines. * Coordinates patients start date with chemotherapy start date for concurrent therapy treatments.
