Oconomowoc Schools company history timeline

1890

Known as the "Scudder cottage" in 1890's, Captain Scudder built and entertained songwriters, composers, singers and writers, notably Mark Twain.

1921

The National Guard Armory Building, originally built in the Spanish Colonial style, for the 127th Regiment Infantry Company G, was dedicated on December 15, 1921.

1923

The Oconomowoc High School opened in the fall of 1923, with enrollment that year reaching 279 students.

The first Oconomowoc High School was built in 1923.

1939

On August 12, 1939, the world premiere screening of The Wizard of Oz is held at the Strand Theatre in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

1984

On December 6, 1984, the building which had housed the Armory was listed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.

1985

From the time of its dedication until 1985 when the new Armory was built on the west side of Oconomowoc off of Hwy 16, the Armory served its purpose of training national guardsmen.

1991

The Oconomowoc Area Historical Society and Museum officially opened on June 29, 1991.

2000

The five acres which made up the Armory, its drill and athletic fields, were purchased for $2000.

2008

During the 2008-09 school year, the Arts Center prepared the Oconomowoc Area School District for its new home while beginning plans to launch its first professional series of programming.

2021
