Odd Fellow Rebekah Home Association history

In June 1890 they purchased an existing orphanage in Green Bay.

By the time of its completion in May 1898, it had been decided that the home would admit aged Odd Fellows, their widows, and orphans.

1902 The home was full with approximately 250 residents and discussions began concerning an addition.

1916 A 2-story hospital building was constructed at the northwest corner of the property approximately 30 feet from the end of the western wing.

It eventually became the “Intermediate Care Facility.” 1925 Another building, a nursery, was added to the northeast of the eastern wing in about the same location as the hospital on the west.

1936 The nursery becomes the offices of the Ohio I.O.O.F. Grand Lodge.

Founded as the Odd-Fellow Rebekah Children’s Home of Northern California the organization operated as an orphanage until the 1950’s; providing a home for orphaned children of order members.

Sometime after that one wing became part of the “Intermediate Care Facility” and the other became the “Ladies Rest Home.” 1962 State regulations forced the home to close its orphanage facilities and to accept only elderly residents.

In 1965 admission to the Odd Fellow Home was opened to the public.

1987 – Family Linkage began offering foster care services

1992 – begin community outreach services within the Gilroy School Districts

1997 – Rebekah Children’s Services starts Wraparound services
