Job Description
Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing a full range of law enforcement duties in any of the bureaus of the Sheriff's Office, including, but not limited to the following: patrol, civil, crime prevention, community outreach, investigation, transportation, court security, administrative, support or jail. The incumbent may be assigned temporarily to a specialty area within the agency based on needs. A certified sheriff's deputy may hold the rank of Certified Deputy I, Certified Deputy II, or Certified Deputy III, depending on qualifications.
A certified deputy sheriff may be assigned to duties in any Sheriff's Office bureau. Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority. Major duties may include any of the following tasks:
Patrol Assignment:
• Maintains law and order and protects life and property.
• Receives and responds to dispatch calls; investigates and takes appropriate action on assigned calls.
• Conducts security checks of businesses, parks, public buildings, industrial areas and residences.
• Maintains traffic control through observation and the use of speed detection devices.
• Detains and tests drivers suspected of driving under the influence.
• Issues citations and/or makes arrests for violations of laws and ordinances; prepares incident reports
• Attends and testifies in court on cases investigated or reports written.
• Respond to natural and man-made disasters.
• Transports prisoners.
• Locates defendants and serves criminal warrants.
• Assists with crowd control and security assignments at various public gatherings or incident scenes.
• Reports hazardous conditions on public roadways and bridges, and conducts surveillance.
• Provides assistance to the public as needed. Provides information and guidance regarding victim's rights.
• Works with code enforcement.
• Conducts and prepares investigations of vehicle accidents.
• Assesses victims, rendering aid to the injured prior to emergency medical services arrival.
• Requests assistance from other agencies, including fire, emergency medical, and tow services.
• Directs traffic at the scene; prepares accident reports.
• Processes arrested persons following established procedures and renders aid to other law enforcement personnel.
• Attends/participates in roll call, including inspection and training; participates in training programs to improve knowledge and skills.
• Performs specialized short or long-term assignments including administrative, technical, and investigative duties as required.
• May serve as field training officer.
• Works with the public, civic organizations, etc. in conducting community activities.
Jail Assignment:
• Receives, searches, books, and places prisoners in appropriate cells.
• Receives and safeguards inmates' personal property. Maintains security and control in receiving, visitation, and other jail areas.
• Transports inmates to activities outside the jail. Conducts inspections and counts.
• Controls inmates' daily activities including meals. Distributes medications. Screens items going in and out of cells. Supervises, counsels, and evaluates inmates assigned as trustees, provides inmate information to the courts, other staff members, and other law enforcement agencies, and maintains a variety of records and logs.
Civil/Warrants Assignment:
• Determines the proper method for legal service of a process.
• Prepares schedules to ensure time and efficient routing of processes to be served.
• Serves processes; locates persons no longer at locations given.
• Executes court-issued writs and orders by seizing property; checking evicted location or physically removing occupants from premises.
• Supervises transportation of seized property to storage area.
• Prepares various reports and forms.
Community Outreach Assignment:
• Maintains peace within controlled school and community settings.
• Investigate school and community incidents. Collects evidence and property, and completes incident and accident reports. Serves warrants. Testifies in court. Gathers victim, defendant, and witness information.
• Prepares and delivers oral presentations in school and community settings, works with at-risk populations, analyzes data on crime trends and citizen complaints, and determines appropriate responses.
• Plans and organizes community involvement, and participates in problem-solving activities aimed at reducing crime and increasing community safety.
Court/Transport Assignment:
• Maintains order and ensures the security and safe condition of the courthouse and courtrooms.
• Assures the safety of jurors and the public; escorts prisoners to and from the courtroom and maintains control of prisoners during trial.
• Maintains control of the audience and removes disorderly persons as required.
• Guards deliberating jury to preclude outside influence.
• Guards and secures County buildings and facilities.
• Maintains court procedure records.
• Transports prisoners to and from court, other jurisdictions or institutions, and clinics and hospitals for medical and psychological treatments.
Administrative / Support:
• Performs maintenance to Sheriff's Office and Jail building and grounds; and vehicles.
• Oversees inmate workers on work details.
• Assists with administrative duties and research as assigned.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
• Knowledge of law enforcement concepts and terminology, including jail operations, criminal investigation, law enforcement, and crime prevention; first-aid principles and techniques; report preparation and record keeping; and human behavior theories related to criminology, crisis intervention, and crowd control.
• Knowledge of laws and court decisions pertaining to law enforcement, including search and seizure, suspects and prisoner's rights, and custody and protection of evidence; operational principles and practices of criminal investigation, law enforcement, and crime prevention; court and trial procedures.

Supervisory Controls: The bureau commander or his/her designee assigns work in terms of agency goals and objectives. The work is reviewed through reports and observation of activities.
Guidelines: Guidelines include applicable laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures related to public safety communications and law enforcement standards. These guidelines require sound judgment and interpretation in application.
Personal Contacts: Contacts are typically with co-workers, business leaders, educators, attorneys, representatives of the judicial system, federal state, and local law enforcement officers, inmates, and the general public.
Purpose of Contacts: Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, resolve problems, influence/motivate persons, justify/settle matters, coordinate work efforts, and provide services.
Physical Demands: Work may be sedentary in the office environment and/or fieldwork may subject the incumbent to extended periods of physical and mental exertion under highly stressful conditions. The person must be able to remain calm and think logically when defending himself/herself from imminent danger, apprehending suspects of crimes, etc. The person must be able to load, unload, aim, and operate firearms. The individual must have correctable hearing, visual, and speaking abilities to perform assigned duties. The person must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods; walk, run, kneel, stoop, crawl, and crouch; make precise and coordinated finger, hand and limb movements; maintain uniform, controlled hand-arm posture or movement; push, pull or drag an adult (averaging 5'6", 160 pounds); lift and carry boxes of evidence (average 50 pounds); use force to restrain/subdue others; work efficiently for long periods of time.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a variety of field, office, and in-vehicle settings, including a secured jail facility, and may require exposure to dangerous and life-threatening situations. The employee must be willing to carry a firearm on the job; mentally and physically capable of taking the life of another, if justified; willing to work any hour of the day or night (shift work), overtime, weekends, on-call, and holidays. Employees must be willing to work at any location in the County travel on specific assignments, comply with the agency's grooming standards, and wear a uniform.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent;
Baccalaureate degree in criminology, criminal justice, political science, public administration, or related field preferred.
• Must be a United States citizen.

Purpose of Job:

Assist/supervise with phone calls, drugs screens, office visits, and defendant reporting.
Review assigned caseload for compliance.
Attend Drug Court and other Court hearings as necessary or directed.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience working

Job Summary
The Campus Police Sergeant creates and maintains a safe and secure environment for community members to engage in pursuit of higher education, visitation of guests, and security of campus properties.
The Sergeant performs all duties of a sworn police officer while supervising assigned sworn and non-sworn subordinate staff in performance of a full range of public safety enforcement, security, and campus services. It is a designated position of trust.
This position is designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is responsible for reporting crimes and other incidents to the Clery Act Compliance Officer for inclusion in the Annual Campus Security Report in accordance with the Federal Clery Act and GGC policy.
Responsibilities
* Promotes fair and equitable enforcement of applicable laws, policies, regulations, and institutional rules while maintaining the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the department and the institution; performs Public Safety duties while following best (police) practices and in compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations to include Clery, FERPA, HIPPA, Title IX, USG and GGC policies and Public Safety Accreditation Standards and Standard Operating Procedures; performs duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA), as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act)
* Functions in a leadership role (under limited supervision) performing a range of supervisory duties: participates in the selection process/hires employees, leads, or arranges orientation and training for employees in the unit, assigns work and work schedules, approves time records, coaches, evaluates and disciplines employees; oversees issuance and inventory of college issued clothing, gear, and equipment (including vehicles); monitors employee compliance with applicable laws, court rulings, policies, regulations and accreditation standards; inspects appearance, equipment and duty assignment; holds responsibility for the review, accuracy and approval of reports prepared by subordinates
* Maintains confidentiality of contacts, conversations, statements, documents, recordings, reports, photographs, video recordings, printouts, radio communications, and all other forms of printed, digital, or computerized information
* Prepares and presents patrol shift briefings; performs duties as Incident Commander for criminal or other large scale incidents; identifies and reports campus safety issues for risk assessment and maintenance review; coordinates the response of emergency rescue units and performs all associated duties; manages assigned staff and resources when called to support neighboring jurisdictions (Mutual Aid) in the enforcement of state laws or city ordinances; reviews documents, attends and testifies in city, state, superior, juvenile, and federal courts as well as the Grand Jury; participates in student integrity hearings
* Performs limited duties normally associated with a lieutenant, or the duties of a patrolman, Campus Security Officer, or Communications Officer, or other function as deemed necessary; duties may vary by assignment to Division of Administration or Division of Operations, or other unit or program of Public Safety; responds to injured, or sick persons, or persons possibly in critical, life threatening circumstances; renders first aid, or other life-saving acts; directs traffic on campus property, or on a roadway using hands, traffic vests, and flashlights; moves and sets up barricades and traffic cones to form directional lanes for vehicular travel; pushes disabled vehicles from traffic accidents; maintains proficiency in the use of all police related equipment
* Functions as a liaison with local, state, and federal first responder services and justice system authorities to provide information and training opportunities to improve joint responses to emergency and non-emergency events on campus, to assist with investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of criminal violators, to include presentation of pertinent information, observations, and suggestions to chain-of-command for analysis
* Participates in the development of general, or complex operational plans, to provide guidance for daily activities, emergency or non-emergency responses, planned campus events, or implementing approved operational plans
* Performs work as scheduled which may be day shift, evening shift or morning shift, and may include working weekends, holidays, and overtime; off-days may rotate, and there may be sudden changes to work assignments due to re-assignment to a specialized police unit or division, a campus or community emergency, a special event or other activities that may require 10 hour or 12 hour shifts

Required Qualifications
* High School or GED
* Four (4) years of experience as a GAPOST certified peace officer in good standing as defined by GAPOST or certification as a law enforcement officer by an agency other than GAPOST with a similar record and years of experience
* Holds an unblemished record of prior termination, resignation in lieu of termination, investigation, suspension, probation, unpaid fees or delinquent training requirements
* Meets qualifications for GAPOST Peace Officer Basic Mandate Academy admission
* Completes GAPOST Peace Officer certification training or GAPOST Equivalency of Training within one (1) year of employment

About the Role
As Access Control Officer I you will be a critical member of our on-the-ground team, ensuring smooth operations and workflows on customer construction sites.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for worker registration and badging; ensuring the credentials of all workers entering the site; management of parking, visitors, and deliveries; and documentation and other support related to those areas, tech troubleshooting, and other responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities
This position works directly with senior leadership and across the entire organization. This position requires in-person work at one or more Sitemetric jobsites in the local area. Travel throughout the United States may be required.
Core responsibilities include:
Worker Registration & Badging:
Proactively monitor and manage access control compliance for everyone who enters and leaves the site. Work closely with the customer and Sitemetric team to understand and uphold site security requirements.
Badging Compliance:
Ensure that all personnel entering the site have their badges and are properly scanned in to verify their identity and maintain accurate worker headcount records for customers.
Parking Management:
Provide parking passes to appropriate personnel and monitor parking pass compliance across designated parking areas.
Visitor & Delivery Management:
Document all visitors entering and leaving the site and receive all deliveries, creating written documentation of the same for the customer.
Customer & Worker Support:
Provide support in all areas of access control including worker registration and badging, tech troubleshooting, visitor and delivery logs, and parking management.
Ad hoc responsibilities:
Assist with ad-hoc access control responsibilities to support our customers for one-time and ongoing access control needs.
Qualifications
2+ years of high-intensity customer service experience requiring maintenance of professionalism while dealing with ongoing pressure and complexity starting early in the day and often extending into later hours-such as in healthcare, hospitality, fast-food/quick-serve, military, and other fields
Ability to quickly establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and colleagues
Detail orientation and ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities in dynamic work environment
Current VALID Driver's License required
This position requires a background check and drug screen
PREFERRED
1+ years of on-the-ground construction or industrial experience
Active pursuit of education through college or trade school
