SUMMARY Corrections Deputies take the first line responsibility for the care, custody, and security of inmates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The most important and essential job function of the position is to have an attitude of service to others. Attitude is essential to maintain positive relationships with co-workers, respond professionally, calmly, and politely to members of the community, work as a team member, function under pressure, and respond in a professional manner to supervision. REQUIREMENTS OF WORK Graduation from an accredited high school, and/or any combination of training and experience which would provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills: Background in construction management with general knowledge and experience in electrical, plumbing, sewage, and structural construction; Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; of business English, spelling and arithmetic. If the Notices and/or Citations are ignored, the Environmental Officer/Nuisance Abatement Officer/Field Inspector shall pursue complete satisfaction of said non-compliance through the Adjudication Proceedings of the Nuisance Abatement Ordinance and/or through Judicial proceedings as outlined in the applicable ordinance in the appropriate court having jurisdiction thereof. The Environmental Officer/Nuisance Abatement Officer/Field Inspector, under the direction of the Director of Planning & Zoning, shall perform inspections in the field to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Building Permit Ordinance, Mobile Home Park Ordinance, Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, Subdivision and Development Ordinance and Sewer Ordinances. The Environmental Officer/Nuisance Abatement Officer/Field Inspector shall perform such other activities and/or participate in any special projects as directed by the Chief Administrative Officer and/or the Director of Planning & Zoning. Such other activities shall include but not be limited to parish inventory identification, waste tire site cleanup, coastal restoration and protection projects and adjudicated property disposition. A Security Officer must be able to detect and identify sounds relevant to fires, floods, alarm signals, and persons in distress against distracting sound background conditions (e.g., machinery, traffic noise, etc.) A Security Officer must be able to: Walk, Run, Stand, Climb, Sit. A Security Officer must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. waist high, if required. A Security Officer must be in good mental health and be able to make decisions instantly on the event of an emergency. A Security Officer must meet the physical and mental requirements of the state(s) to be licensed by the state to perform Security Guard / Security Officer work.
