JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs fully responsible, professional, general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. After a period of formal and on-the-job training, employees in this class are responsible for independent law enforcement duties ranging from average to considerable difficulty and performed under general supervision of a sergeant or other ranking officer.
Work normally involves patrolling in an unaccompanied automobile, motorcycle, bicycle or foot patrol, and/or conducting detailed criminal investigations, traffic regulation, or community policing activities in a designated area on an assigned shift. Work involves a substantial element of danger and requires the responsible exercise of appropriate judgment in meeting critical emergency situations. Employees are sworn to act in behalf of the Police Department and the City of Bellingham and carry firearms in the performance of their duties.
Employees may be directed to work on, lead, or plan special projects or assignments which call upon specialized abilities and knowledge attained through experience as a uniformed officer. Work of this class may be reviewed by superior officers via personal inspection, reviews of reports and/or oral discussion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Patrols a designated area of City on foot, bicycle, or in an automobile, motorcycle or small watercraft to investigate, deter and/or discover possible violations of criminal and vehicle (and/or boating) traffic laws, codes and/or ordinances. Maintains radio contact with the dispatch center.
* Responds to calls, complaints or reports of the actual, possible or potential occurrence of specific criminal activity and takes appropriate action. This may include, but is not limited to, mediating civil disputes or interceding in domestic disturbances; maintaining peace; protecting persons; enforcing traffic laws; apprehending, controlling and arresting persons, including those who are violent and/or emotional; assisting disabled persons, motorists, and others; and providing information and direction.
* Participates in community policing activities: gains familiarity with individuals, groups, businesses and special issues of assigned community; meets with and makes presentations to community groups; assists in neighborhood problem-solving projects; and sponsors public education programs and activities.
* Administers immediate assistance to citizens in critical and/or emergency situations where the security of lives and/or property may be endangered. In the course of duty, officers are exposed to a range of physical injuries, accidents, child abuse, mental health concerns, or death where they may be required to administer first aid, CPR or other assistance prior to the arrival of emergency services, and to provide support to victims and families.
* Secures and controls crime scenes and administers aid, may gather and/or supervise the collection of evidence and witness statements, and arrests or supervises the arrest(s) of suspects.
* Appears in court to present evidence and testify against persons accused of crime; maintains or supervises surveillance over suspected criminals; arranges and/or participates in the return of fugitives from other cities or from outside the state.
* Develops and maintains required skills through participation in intermediate or advanced training classes in law enforcement methodology, first aid, regular or special weapons/tactics and procedures and related subjects.
ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED:
* Engages in specialized investigative assignments (e.g., Forensics, Drug/Gang Task Force etc.).
* Performs specialized assignments (e.g., Neighborhood Resource Officer, Behavioral Health Officer, Canine Unit, SWAT etc.).
* Works with other law enforcement agencies on special policing assignments and events and/or multi-jurisdiction emergencies as directed.
* Performs special operations work such as raids and searches as directed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in any and all property existing in the City of Bellingham and its environs. This involves working in a variety of environmental conditions and may require: walking, sitting or standing for long periods; running, climbing, jumping, or physical exertion in inclement weather; physical agility in slippery conditions, mountainous or uneven terrain, or in water. Officers work in unaccompanied automobile, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot patrol, maintaining contact with the dispatch center. There is exposure to high-risk situations which require emergency response procedures such as the use of masks, gloves, etc. to prevent contact with infectious diseases; and the use of protective clothing, equipment, firearms and other gear. While in uniform and/or driving a police vehicle, the Police Officer will not be allowed to use or display any tobacco product. Officers work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job including:
* Physical strength to restrain and control persons and physically defend self;
* Manual dexterity to operate a motor vehicle or handle tools and guns in the performance of assigned tasks, including keyboarding, grasping and reaching.

* Associate degree or two years (90 quarter hours/60 semester hours) of general education course work toward a degree at an accredited college or university; OR
* High School Diploma or equivalent, AND
* Four years of active military service with honorable discharge (four years of military service may be substituted for two years of general education course work toward a degree at an accredited college or university)
AND
* Two years (Twenty-four months) of full-time paid duty as a sworn police officer in a civilian governmental jurisdiction providing general law enforcement services, and be in said position at the time of application, or retain active commission.
OR
* Four years of full-time paid duty as a sworn police officer in a civilian governmental jurisdiction providing general law enforcement services and be in said position at the time of application, or retain active commission (two additional years of experience may substitute for two years of general education course work toward a degree at an accredited college or university).
* Bilingual proficiency highly desirable.
* Employment contingent upon passing a criminal convictions check, background investigation, polygraph examination and fingerprinting. Subject to re-check every five years.

This is a full-time Law Enforcement position to investigate and monitor sex offenders, and others who present a significant danger to the general public, within the exterior boundaries of the Nooksack Tribal Trust Lands, beyond and includes the responsibilities of a Police Officer. This position will also require educating Officers and the community about the issue of and related to sexual assaults. Responsibilities of a Police Officer include performing general duty police work in the protection of life, property, and the rights of the Nooksack Tribe and individual community members. Officers are expected to act with considerable discretion, sound judgment, and cultural awareness in the enforcement of statutes and laws of the Nooksack Tribe using modern police training and methods. Officers shall render emergency assistance to the public in a wide variety of situations; patrol residential, rural, and business areas of the reservation and trust lands; perform standard crime and accident prevention.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact with and serve the Nooksack Community in a professional, patient, and compassionate manner.
Investigate and monitor sex offenders.
Educate Officers and community members about the issue of and related to sexual assaults and sex offenders, such as what it is, how to identify signs of sex abuse and assault, how to respond appropriately to ensure victims' safety, options for reporting, and how to prevent sex crimes.
Coordinate with other SORNA Officer(s) to ensure Sex Offender Website is up to date.
Track, investigate, and monitor sex offenders and other high-risk individuals on tribal trust land.
Maintain updated offender records and liaise with federal, state, and tribal databases.
Conduct routine home visits, compliance checks, and follow-up investigations.
Responds to suspicious activities and answers emergency calls for service.
Officers shall enforce Tribal, Federal, and State laws; investigate and document crime and traffic accidents; identify and recover stolen property and evidence; and testify in court.
Interact effectively and professionally with other Tribal Police Department staff and employees of other Nooksack Tribal Departments and outside agencies.
Patrol areas of the reservation in a police patrol vehicle and on foot to deter and discover crime.
Responds to and investigates crimes. Protects the public, gathers and preserves evidence, and takes statements concerning crimes occurring on the Nooksack Reservation and Trust land.
Interviews persons with complaints and makes proper disposition or directs them to the proper authorities.
Practice officer safety skills to ensure the safety of self and others. Handcuff and search arrested persons and secure their custody. Transports arrested persons to court, jail, hospital, and convicted persons to institutions out of the county and out of state as necessary.
Accurately complete necessary reports concerning crimes, circumstances of arrest, gathering of evidence, and personal information of witnesses and victims.
Follows up on cases resulting in offender apprehension and property recovery.
Coordinates crime scene control and investigation, including interviews and interrogations, identification of witnesses, photographing, and overseeing collection and preservation of physical evidence. Maintains the chain of evidence by properly marking, tagging, and storing in accordance with established rules of evidence and department procedures.
Assist citizens by giving information on laws, ordinances, and directions to other authorities or agencies when appropriate. Aid persons who are injured or in distress. Assist other Tribal departments to fulfill their responsibilities by sharing non-confidential information and taking enforcement actions as necessary.
Investigate family disputes and reports of maltreatment of children, takes suspects into custody as needed, and or refer them to the appropriate authorities.
Gather and preserve evidence; ensure evidence is properly maintained for use in court. Testify in court concerning their observations, decisions, actions, arrests, and child placements.
All other necessary law enforcement or emergency service duties as assigned by department supervisors.
PREFERENCE:
Indian Preference Policy applies to this and all positions with the Nooksack Indian Tribe.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.

Must be a graduate of a Certified Police Academy, with at least one (1) year of service.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position performs fully responsible, professional, general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. After a period of formal and on-the-job training, employees in this class are responsible for independent law enforcement duties ranging from average to considerable difficulty and performed under general supervision of a sergeant or other ranking officer.
Work normally involves patrolling in an unaccompanied automobile, motorcycle, bicycle or foot patrol, and/or conducting detailed criminal investigations, traffic regulation, or community policing activities in a designated area on an assigned shift. Work involves a substantial element of danger and requires the responsible exercise of appropriate judgment in meeting critical emergency situations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Patrols a designated area of City on foot, bicycle, or in an automobile, motorcycle or small watercraft to investigate, deter and/or discover possible violations of criminal and vehicle (and/or boating) traffic laws, codes and/or ordinances. Maintains radio contact with the dispatch center.
* Responds to calls, complaints or reports of the actual, possible or potential occurrence of specific criminal activity and takes appropriate action. This may include, but is not limited to, mediating civil disputes or interceding in domestic disturbances; maintaining peace; protecting persons; enforcing traffic laws; apprehending, controlling and arresting persons, including those who are violent and/or emotional; assisting disabled persons, motorists, and others; and providing information and direction.
* Participates in community policing activities: gains familiarity with individuals, groups, businesses and special issues of assigned community; meets with and makes presentations to community groups; assists in neighborhood problem-solving projects; and sponsors public education programs and activities.
* Administers immediate assistance to citizens in critical and/or emergency situations where the security of lives and/or property may be endangered. In the course of duty, officers are exposed to a range of physical injuries, accidents, child abuse, mental health concerns, or death where they may be required to administer first aid, CPR or other assistance prior to the arrival of emergency services, and to provide support to victims and families.
* Secures and controls crime scenes and administers aid, may gather and/or supervise the collection of evidence and witness statements, and arrests or supervises the arrest(s) of suspects.
* Appears in court to present evidence and testify against persons accused of crime; maintains or supervises surveillance over suspected criminals; arranges and/or participates in the return of fugitives from other cities or from outside the state.
* Develops and maintains required skills through participation in intermediate or advanced training classes in law enforcement methodology, first aid, regular or special weapons/tactics and procedures and related subjects.
ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED:
* Engages in specialized investigative assignments (e.g., Forensics, Drug/Gang Task Force etc.).
* Performs specialized assignments (e.g., Neighborhood Resource Officer, Behavioral Health Officer, Canine Unit, SWAT etc.).
* Works with other law enforcement agencies on special policing assignments and events and/or multi-jurisdiction emergencies as directed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in any and all property existing in the City of Bellingham and its environs. This involves working in a variety of environmental conditions and may require: walking, sitting or standing for long periods; running, climbing, jumping, or physical exertion in inclement weather; physical agility in slippery conditions, mountainous or uneven terrain, or in water. Officers work in unaccompanied automobile, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot patrol, maintaining contact with the dispatch center. There is exposure to high-risk situations which require emergency response procedures such as the use of masks, gloves, etc. to prevent contact with infectious diseases; and the use of protective clothing, equipment, firearms and other gear. While in uniform and/or driving a police vehicle, the Police Officer will not be allowed to use or display any tobacco product. Officers are expected to act with considerable discretion, sound judgment and cultural awareness in the enforcement of statues and laws of the Nooksack Tribe using modern police training and methods. Officers shall render emergency assistance to the public in a wide variety of situations; patrol residential, rural and business areas of the reservation and trust lands; perform standard crime and accident prevention.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact with and serve the Nooksack Community in a professional, patient and compassionate manner.
Responds to suspicious activities and answers emergency calls for service.
Officers shall enforce Tribal, Federal and State laws; investigate and document crime and traffic accidents; identify and recover stolen property and evidence; and testify in court.

As a full-time Member Service Officer - Consumer Lender, you enjoy a Monday through Saturday schedule, working 40 hours/5 days per week.
Your day will include with assisting members with opening a variety of account types, loan applications and providing them with the guidance and expertise they need to make informed financial decisions. As a trusted advisor, you evaluate loan applications, providing tailored solutions to meet each member's unique needs. From discussing loan consolidation options to crafting solutions that bridge financial gaps, you play a crucial role in empowering members to achieve their financial goals. Being a Member Service Rep includes mastery of member-impacting teller operations, such as: account maintenance, processing banking transactions - such as deposits, withdrawals, and cashing checks - while providing excellent customer service. The Security Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and evaluating organizational security programs to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role involves supporting the implementation of security measures, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending resource needs. The position provides the opportunity to gain exposure to more complex tasks within the security function.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of security programs across the organization.
Assess the effectiveness of current security measures and recommend improvements or additional resources as needed.
Assist in ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Monitor security-related activities and contribute to incident response efforts as directed.
Prepare reports and documentation to support security initiatives and audits.
Collaborate with departments to align security practices with operational needs.
Gain exposure to complex security tasks and occasionally receive direction in multiple aspects of the work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Information Security, or a related field.
2 to 4 years of experience in a security-related role.
Familiarity with security program management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work both independently and under occasional supervision
