We are seeking a highly qualified Residential Security Agent to join our team of dedicated professionals. PAY TRANSPARENCY:
$44.50 per hour + $5.05 health and welfare
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide armed protection for personnel, facilities, and assets in accordance with company policies and client requirements.
Conduct roving patrols, access control, and perimeter security to prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, or safety hazards.
Monitor and respond to security systems, alarms, and surveillance equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Be a citizen of the United States of America.
Be at least 21 years of age. While there is no maximum age limit for RSA positions, all applicants shall be able to withstand the physical demands of the job and be capable of responding to emergency situations.
Be a high school graduate or have a General Educational Development (GED), or equivalency.
Be able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
Possess a valid, unrestricted (except eyeglass wear) state driver's license.
Possess one of the following qualifications:
a minimum of three years of military experience, or;
a minimum of one year of sworn law enforcement or armed contract security guard experience providing services similar to this contract requirement

Additional information
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a continuing service agreement before being assigned to an initial training class. Applicants must provide a portfolio highlighting their training, experience, and ability to investigate both administrative and criminal incidents within an educational setting. Highly qualified candidates will undergo an oral interview, followed by a conditional offer, background investigation, polygraph, physical exam, and psychological evaluation. Upon successful completion of all steps, a final interview with the Chief of Police will be conducted. Portions of the background check may be modified or waived at Chief's discretion and may be dependent on the law enforcement employment status of the applicant.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Serves as a visible, active law enforcement presence on public school campus and is responsible for ensuring safety by patrolling school grounds, responding to suspicious activity taking law enforcement action as needed. The SRO oversees their assigned school as well as its feeder elementary and middle schools.
Assumes primary responsibility for handling all calls for service from the school and coordinates the response of other police resources to the school. Investigates, or assists in investigating, crimes and incidents occurring on school property. SRO is expected to assist PD during dire needs.
Works closely with the school staff to build positive relationships and promote a better understanding of law enforcement within the school community. This includes participation in the development and implementation of school safety plans and emergency response procedures.
Conducts annual safety and security assessments of all schools and provides or coordinates safety training for students and staff, including lockdown drills, fire drills, and evacuation protocols.
Conduct courses and workshops for students, staff and parents to promote social awareness, relationship skills, self-management, self-awareness and responsible decision making. Takes lead on training such as school safety, de-escalation, drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, internet safety, Crime prevention, traffic education, law enforcement education, bullying and similar topics.
Works with the School Administration to identify school events where police presence may be necessary, such as: all night graduation party, school dances, school plays, etc. SRO will attend these events if coverage is unavailable.
Conducts truancy checks as requested by school administration. Assists in investigating possible residency fraud for the school system.
Provides informal counseling and support to students and serving as a mentor to build trust and rapport.
Fulfills all the duties and responsibilities of a police officer. Attends all required PD training and operates under the direction of the Chief of Police or their designee.
Works flexible hours based on school hours and their needs; however, they are expected to respond to emergencies on campus during or outside of school hours.
Adheres to the guidelines of the MOU with the City of Falls Church Public Schools.
SROs will assist with the departmental needs during summer breaks and extended school closures.

Minimum Qualifications
To become a Police Officer with the City of Falls Church Police Department, you must meet the minimum qualifications for law enforcement office as defined in VA Code § 15.2-1705 and other hiring requirements.
Age: must be at least 20 years and 6 months of age at the time of application and at least 21 by the date of hire.
Character/Background Assessment: applicants that continue past the exam/interview phase will undergo a comprehensive background investigation and character check. Individual situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis; however, a favorable driving record and a clean criminal history are essential. The police department retains the right to reject any applicant for any arrest and/or conviction that occurred at any age (unless the arrest or criminal charge against them has been expunged, pursuant to Virginia Code § 15.2-1705).
All aspects of an applicant's background are considered when making a final hiring determination, however applicants who have past or current behavior(s) as listed below may be disqualified:
Have ever engaged in any activity that would support a felony conviction
Have convictions or charges pending for misdemeanor crimes relating to theft, domestic violence, assault, crimes of moral turpitude (such as lying under oath or falsifying official documents), any crime requiring registration on the Sex Offender Registry at any age, or any crime which carries a penalty of prohibiting the ownership of, possession, or control of a firearm.

Having sold, distributed, or manufactured any prescription or illegal drugs without legal authorization.
Any previous revocation or denial of certification as Police Officer or a suspension of current certified status.
Failure to provide a fully completed, honestly reported, Personal History Statement, including intentional withholding of information on any application, interview, or paperwork associated with the position
Citizenship: must be a United States citizen. Permanent resident aliens with an application for naturalization filed and pending with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services may also be considered.

Crime Prevention Unit
The Deputy Sheriff typically works a 12.5-hour shift inside the Adult Detention Center. The shift options are (shift hours are subject to change):
Day Shift: 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Night Shift: 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Workdays alternating weekly (1st week, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday; 2nd week Wednesday, Thursday)
All shifts work approximately 15 days per month to equal 87.5 hours per two-week pay period, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
While working in the Adult Detention Center deputies may receive additional pay, such as night and evening differential, foreign language stipend, field training instructor stipend, holiday pay, and/or annual step increases as allowed by the county budget.
Incumbents are considered emergency essential services personnel requiring that they report on their scheduled day, or may be called back to work, should a manmade or natural disaster or emergency arise.
Academy Training hours are primarily Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
*Salary will be determined within pay grade based upon relevant qualifications such as: Prior law enforcement experience (in-state and out-of-state recognized), college degree, military experience, and foreign language proficiency.
*This position includes a signing bonus for fully qualified new county employees in the amount of $15,000.

Minimum Qualifications

Character/Background Assessment: applicants that continue past the exam/interview phase will undergo a comprehensive background investigation and character check. Incumbents are considered emergency essential services personnel requiring that they report on their scheduled day, or may be called back to work, should a manmade or natural disaster or emergency arise.

May train newly sworn officers in the daily performance of their duties;
Performs public relations duties such as instructing citizens in crime prevention and personal safety techniques, and attends community events;
Builds and maintains relationships with residents and businesses located in their assigned Police Service Area;
Transports mental health clients to mental health facilities for treatment.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to:
High school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education.
Successful completion of police recruit training.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license at time of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or higher degree, or at least 60 credit hours towards a degree, from an accredited university or college.
Prior law enforcement or military experience.
Current law enforcement officer certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Professional working proficiency, or higher, in a foreign language or American Sign Language. Proficiency level to be evaluated.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

By the end of the probationary period, must obtain the following:
Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services;
Certification in the Virginia Crime Information Network (VCIN);
Certification in firearms proficiency;
Successful completion of Incident Command System 100;
Successful completion of Incident Command System 700
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a citizen of the United States; (or a permanent resident alien with an application for naturalization filed and pending with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services may be considered).
Must be 20 years old, or within 180 days of 21st birthday at the time of academy start date, or currently a Police Cadet and within 180 days of 21st birthday at the time of academy start date.
Must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, a polygraph examination, a psychological examination, and a physical ability test prior to appointment.
Applicants selected must be able to obtain a Class A medical rating in the assigned medical group prior to starting work.

Must have never committed, been involved in, or been convicted of, a felony or serious misdemeanor;

The City of Falls Church Sheriff's Office is recruiting for a part-time, 20-hour per week Deputy Sheriff with Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement certification. This Deputy will perform court security, prisoner transportation, civil process, traffic enforcement and other law enforcement functions including emergency response in a busy and growing small agency and jurisdiction environment.
The City of Falls Church is an independent municipality located six miles from the nation's capital situated between the large urban counties of Arlington and Fairfax with its own court, clerk system and sheriff's office. Required, No Exceptions:
