Duties
During the course of their careers, Secret Service Police carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.

It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.

* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
Applicants will be required to travel to all phases of the hiring process at their own expense. If a final job offer is extended, relocation expenses will not be authorized for first duty location.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently seeking experienced Law Enforcement Investigators to fill multiple Special Agent positions throughout the state. To be considered as a potential applicant, you must meet the minimum requirement(s) listed below. Positions are available in Miami, Ft. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Special Agents are sworn law enforcement officers who assist the state's criminal justice community by providing a variety of services including:
* Identifying and investigating organized and multi-jurisdictional crimes;
* Apprehending fugitives;
* Collecting and disseminating criminal intelligence information;
* Investigating public corruption;
* Seizing illegally obtained assets;
* Dismantling criminal organizations;
* Assisting in locating missing persons; and
* Providing protective services to Florida's Governor and other dignitaries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Four (4) years of sworn law enforcement experience, two of which must be investigative, and applicant must possess current law enforcement certification.

BASE SALARY:
Persons selected will be hired at $66,150.00 and increases are granted based upon appropriations as determined by the Florida Legislature. The annual salary for this position in Monroe, Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach counties will be increased by $4,999.80.
Salary for the position will be commensurate with experience and training.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

DMV records); analyze surveillance video; present findings in reports and presentations in non-technical terminology to various audiences.
Research - Data-mine Postal records and other databases to identify mail theft activity; prepare reports documenting analytical results; disseminate research results to appropriate contact(s) in a timely manner.
Planning and Preparation - Complete assigned tasks to ensure completion within required timeframes to support the criminal or civil investigation, as appropriate; assist Postal Inspectors with developing intelligence for criminal investigations; prepare initial investigative research; compile basic background information to include, but not limited to, researching all pertinent records and other data.

Requirements for Police Officer - Lateral (Out of State)
A Police Officer - Lateral (Out of State) is an individual who has attended a Police Academy, or its military equivalent, and is certified and commissioned as a Peace Officer by a governmental entity in the United States or the United States Armed Forces. Police Officer - Lateral (Out of State) applicants will be required to challenge TCOLE and obtain licensure within 180 days of this application.
Qualified candidates must have:
1. at least three years of service as a sworn peace officer, or equivalent, with one agency. This three years of service must be with their most recent police agency. Note: Officers with less than the required years of service or who do not meet the criteria listed below should apply in a separate job posting as "Police Officer - Certified." It is preferred that lateral experience be obtained at an agency and in a position where the applicant:
* Regularly answers 911 calls for service and
* Has responsibilities and comparable duties to that of an officer with the Sugar Land Police Department, including powers of arrest, in either the Patrol or Investigations Bureau. (This does not include sworn service in the following roles: communications, detention, or courtrooms).
Reserve police officer status or other unpaid status will not be used in calculating the three year service requirement for entry as a lateral.
The Chief of Police shall make the final determination as to whether an applicant meets the criteria for the Police Lateral Entry Program. The Chief's decision shall be final and non-appealable.
2. In addition, qualified candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, have a valid driver's license with a good driving record and a stable employment record with no history of any conduct which may affect suitability for law enforcement work. Candidates must pass each step of the selection process, which includes: physical fitness test, oral interview board, polygraph test, and a thorough background investigation. Candidates should be aware that sensitive or confidential aspects of their personal lives will be explored. A job description for a City of Sugar Land Certified Police Officer is posted on-line. Non-smokers are preferred.
3. Police Officer - Lateral (Out of State) applicants will be required to challenge TCOLE and obtain licensure within 180 days of this application.Candidates who have applied with the expectation TCOLE licensure, or TCOLE licensure through Out-of-State or Federal challenges, within the specified time frame who ultimately do not complete that requirement will be discharged from the hiring process unless they meet other requirements allowing them to continue in the hiring process.

Step 4: Background Packet Submission and Investigation
Applicants who pass the phases of testing and interview panel will submit their completed personal history statement to the Training Unit. A background investigation will be conducted.
Step 5: Polygraph Examination Applicants who pass the background investigation and are being considered for sworn employment will undergo a polygraph examination.
Related Time Periods and Information:
This process will remain open until positions are filled. If an applicant is rejected for any of the reasons listed in the "Rejection Criteria", they will be required to wait the specified time to apply again.
Final Steps: Eligibility Pool, Conditional Job Offer, Medical and Psychological Testing
Candidates who pass all of the above are placed in an eligibility (applicant) pool.
