POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Under direction, patrols assigned areas, conducts criminal investigations, regulates traffic laws, and performs duties of Deputy Sheriff 3.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Sergeant.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Officer in Charge when delegated.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patrols assigned areas of Anderson County in marked patrol car, keeps the peace, enforces laws, makes arrests, and issues citations. Conducts criminal investigations, serves and makes return of court paperwork (i.e.., subpoenas, warrants, summonses, writs, etc.), compiles information on suspects, and interrogates suspects. Responds to emergency radio calls and investigates robberies, civil disturbances, domestic disputes, fights, drunkenness, missing children, prowlers, abuse of drugs, etc. Takes appropriate law enforcement action. When directed, exercises full supervisory authority as Officer in Charge of shift or specific work assignment. Completes and submits all required reports accurately and in a timely manner. Transports prisoners and provides security to courts. Enforces traffic laws, investigates vehicular collisions, and prepares detailed reports. Assists in rescue activities for sick, injured, or lost persons. Preserves evidence.
Works an assigned shift using own judgment in deciding course of action while being expected to handle difficult and emergency situations without assistance.
Maintains normal availability by police radio or telephone for consultation on major emergencies or precedent.
Carries out duties in conformance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
Conducts follow-up investigations of crimes committed during assigned shift. Seeks out and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects. Develops leads and tips. Searches scene of crime for clues. Evaluates items for evidentiary value. Prepares cases for giving testimony and testifies in court proceedings.
Prepares a variety of reports and records including deputy's weekly log, reports of investigations, field interrogation report, breathalyzer check list, vehicle impoundment forms, etc.
Coordinates activities with other officers and exchanges information with officers in other law enforcement agencies.
Maintains contact with supervisory personnel to coordinate investigation activities, provides mutual assistance during emergency situations, and provides general information about Sheriff's Department activities.
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and bondable.
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent for Classified Employees
Must not have been convicted of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving "moral turpitude" as the term is defined by law and not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable conditions from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Must have a valid Tennessee Driver's License (only for those employees normally required to operate motor vehicles).
Must have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician.
Must be free of all latent or apparent mental disorders as verified by a qualified professional.
Must have a good moral character as determined by investigation.
Must complete 40 hours in-service training annually.
All employees shall also meet all minimum standards set forth by the Sheriff of Anderson County, the Anderson County Civil Service Policies and Procedures, and, if applicable, the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission Rules and Regulations or other standards set forth by the Tennessee Code Annotated.

* Possess a current valid driver's license. Must be REAL ID compliant.

Qualifications

As part of the application process the applicant will be required to complete the United States Secret Service Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT). It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.
Additional information
* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
Applicants will be required to travel to all phases of the hiring process at their own expense. If a final job offer is extended, relocation expenses will not be authorized for first duty location.
The Secret Service prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone) (exception a single conservative and unobtrusive tattoo in the form of a ring is authorized on one finger).

As a department, Campus police are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Hardin Valley Campus, and answer the emergency calls to ************ at any hour.
Per TCA 49-7-118 “Campus police officer” means a person commissioned by an employing institution, school, or board and rendered an oath to provide police services, enforce law, exercise arrest authority and carry firearms, and thus is subject to the Tennessee POST commission.

Police officers on campus are supported by security guards who can help with minor requests for service, such as door unlocks or battery boost requests.
Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the college.
Essential Functions:
30% Patrols college grounds and adjacent areas on foot and in motor vehicle to deter crime. Enforce Tennessee State Laws and policies and guidelines set by Pellissippi State Community College, the Tennessee Board of Regents, and the U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Act. 10% Provides direction, supervision and training for contract security guards. Trains PSCC contract security guards on proper patrol techniques, unlocking and locking down college buildings, conducting basic investigations and report writing, and emergency plans and procedures.
10% Inspects college property for safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, unsecured doors or other unusual events. Unlocks doors to classrooms, offices and other secured areas of the college for authorized persons. Provides vehicle unlock and jump starts service to the campus community.
5% Perform tasks related to emergency incidents, emergency drills, and the college Emergency Response Plan. Provides mutual police assistance, upon request, to local police agencies to assist in large scale emergencies.
5% Provides first aid and direction in emergency situations and coordinates emergency response by EMS, fire, and outside police agencies. Inspects and ensures proper operation of emergency and security related equipment.

Crime statistics and incident reports measure the level of safety and security on campus. Calls for service such as personal safety escorts, door unlocks, car battery boosts, and vehicle unlocks measure the amount of services provided to the campus community.
Scope of Responsibility:
Inadequate job performance could result in personal injury or death to a member of the campus community or visitor. Physical Demands:
The police officer is required to meet the physical standards set by the TN P.O.S.T. Academy and Commission. The TN P.O.S.T. Manual dexterity is required for personal protection, weapons retention and proper use of authorized weapons. The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.

Responsibilities
Monitor designated streets, lots, garages, other public areas and/or an entire campus to ensure compliance with parking policies.
Provide customer service by answering questions regarding directions, events, building locations and parking policies.
Issue citations and warnings for non-compliance with a computerized hand held computer or manual tickets. Impound, boot or relocate vehicles as directed.
This position requires the ability to work alone and therefore must exercise proper judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with people.
Assist maintenance staff with duties related to parking equipment and facility upkeep and maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: inspecting and assessing lots for maintenance issues, painting, cleaning and repairing parking meters and pay and display machines, installing signs, sign posts and meter posts.
Assist in the collection and security of all monies received through parking meters, multi-space machines , pay on foot technology and any other means of collecting parking revenues and fees.
Assist event staff with activities related to parking for events. This includes but is not limited to: setting up for events, traffic control, receipt of payment for parking, and lot usage control.
Assist office staff with activities related to permit sales during peak seasons. This includes but is not limited to data entry, collating mailings, providing frontline customer service.
Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements: The personnel selected for parking enforcement officer positions must have certain traits and abilities that enable them to achieve expected levels of performance. Must successfully complete background investigation, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.

Is available for Family Day and Multi-Family groups as necessary or as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Master's degree from an accredited university or college in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, or in a related human services field. Experience working with children with emotional, behavioral or substance abuse problems preferred. Licensed or certified clinicians are required to provide documentation and license renewal at the appropriate intervals.
Must possess high moral and ethical values, a willingness to be open to learning and growing and have interpersonal skills to work as an integral part of a team. Be able to display appropriate interpersonal/personal boundaries, maturity of behavior and judgment and remain flexible to accommodate changes in work schedule.
