Armed Security Officer's duties include being a visible deterrent to criminal activity, providing security for patients, Associates, and visitors, protecting and patrolling hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned. Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to protect and serve the city's property and citizens. THE ALLEN POLICE DEPARTMENT - HIRING PROCESS
Once an application has been received, you will be emailed directions on completing the Personal History Statement and Preliminary Interview packet.
In-State Lateral Requirements:
You must meet all the following requirements:
* Must possess a valid TCOLE license.
* Must possess a current and valid Driver's License.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* No experience and completed at least 45 college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting organization recognized by the United States Department of Education or Council for Higher Education, OR
* Completed four (4) years of active-duty military experience with an honorable discharge prior to the entrance examination, OR
* More than three (3) years of experience with a Municipality, Sheriff's Office, or Department of Public Safety with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
The Chief of Police or Designee will individually access your experience to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria. Passing all stages of the hiring process is mandatory. Testing is done by appointment. The Chief of Police retains the authority to mandate attendance at a police academy to those who are chosen.
Those selected to continue will be contacted to schedule the written exam and physical assessment. Testing is done by appointment. On the test day, you must bring proper identification (State or Federal Government ID/DL) with you. You may wear your gym clothes to the test.
Applicants must pass each phase of the hiring process to be hired:
Entrance Examination
The entrance examination is a four-part examination, which consists of reading comprehension, basic arithmetic, spelling/grammar and writing skills. A score of 70 or higher in each section must be achieved in order to pass the examination and proceed in the process.
Study guides for the examination are available. The cost for the study guide is $20.00. The written exam covers mathematical reasoning, writing ability, situational judgment/human relations and reasoning/analyzing. Physical Assessment
The physical assessment attempts to measure whether the applicant is fit for duty as a police officer. Applicants who pass the written exam will move forward to the fitness test, which consists of the following:
* 1.5 mile run within 15:26
* 300 meter run within 62 seconds
* 26 push-ups with no time limit
* 30 sit-ups within 60 seconds
You must pass each element of the fitness test to move forward to the next phase.
Background Investigation
An extensive check of criminal, driving, employment records, education, and credit references will be conducted as well as verification of character references.
Interview Board
The applicant will be interviewed in the areas of their general background, current and past employment, prior police experience, criminal history, traffic record and military service. The applicant is also given situational reasoning scenarios and evaluated on those responses. During this interview, the applicant is evaluated in the areas of professionalism, dependability, reaction to pressure and situational reasoning ability, along with interpersonal and oral communication.
Polygraph Examination
The department's polygraph examiner is licensed by the state and conducts the examinations within the state guidelines. The results of the examinations will be regularly reviewed to ensure that polygraph procedures are fair, impartial and that all applicants are given adequate opportunity to resolve areas of deception through every reasonable means. The ultimate decision to employ remains with the Chief of Police.
Psychological Examination
The applicant is assessed for their psychological suitability for law enforcement work. The applicant is evaluated for hypersensitivity, impulsiveness, and frustration tolerance, as well as attributes such as achievement, flexibility, sensitivity, maturity, intelligence, somatic concerns, mood, social adjustment, anxiety, emotional control, dominance, moral-ethical behavior, impression formation and attitudes. An applicant must receive a rating of 4.0 or above to pass the psychological examination.
Physical Examination and Drug Screen
A police officer is responsible for preservation of the public peace, the protection of life, liberty, and property, the prevention of crime, the arrest and prosecution of violators of State Law and City Ordinances. The work environment includes vehicle patrol and in some instances foot patrol. Therefore, applicants are evaluated for their ability to perform the specific job requirements, specifically: lifting, running, bending, and walking. Hearing and eyesight are also tested.
Once an applicant has successfully passed each of the previous phases, they will then be scheduled for an interview with the Chief of Police or his designee.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR POLICE OFFICER
* Applicant must be at least 21 years of age;
* Applicant must be a citizen of the United States;
* Applicant must have at least 45 college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher and two (2) years of continuous service as a full-time law enforcement officer OR High School diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of of continuous service as a full-time law enforcement officer.
* Have been honorably discharged from any and all military service or provide proof of acceptable military re-enlistment eligibility if prior service is uncharacterized;
* Must have current and valid motor vehicle operator's license;
* Not have been convicted of or received deferred adjudication for any offense of family violence; Not have been on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order;
* Not have ever been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor
* Not have been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years
* Not have any criminal charges pending or under indictment for any criminal offense; Not be currently on court-ordered community service or probation for any criminal offense;
* Not have excessive traffic tickets or accidents;
* Not have had a license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement revoked or suspended;
* Be of good moral character
* Must be able to work shift work, holidays and weekends
* Must have the ability to read and comprehend training materials, departmental policy, rules, regulations, laws and ordinances;
* Must have the ability to establish effective working relationship with other employees, law enforcement agencies and the public;
* Must have the ability to learn the use and care of firearms and specialized equipment;
* Must possess 20/20 vision, either corrected or uncorrected or uncorrected in each eye, unless vision is corrected by the use of contact lenses which must be worn on duty and/or during all law enforcement related activities. Must be free of dichromatic color blindness, night blindness and any other visual deficiencies or limitations.
* Must possess hearing that cannot exceed an average hearing loss of 25 decibels (ANSI) at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hertz; cannot exceed a single reading of 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, 3000 Hertz; cannot exceed a single reading of 35 decibels at 500 Hertz; and cannot exceed a single reading of 45 decibels at 4000 Hertz.
INELIGIBILITY AND DISQUALIFIERS LIST
Below is a list of occurrences that may disqualify the applicant either permanently or make the applicant ineligible for hire for a specified period of time. These causes for disqualification are in accordance with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. These causes include, but are not limited to those listed below:
INELIGIBILTY LIST
1. IS NOT A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES. The applicant will be considered ineligible until citizenship is obtained in accordance with state and federal laws.
2. HAS BEEN CONVICTED OF OR ADMITTED TO CONDUCT that constitutes a Class B misdemeanor under the Penal Code or equivalent under federal law, to include the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), within ten (10) years, will result in a temporary rejection. Crimes involving moral turpitude may result in permanent disqualification and will be considered on a case-by-case basis with appropriate consideration of circumstances.
NOTE: For the purposes of item #2 mentioned above, a person is convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime involving moral turpitude, if a court of competent jurisdiction enters an adjudication of guilt against the person, or a plea of guilty is entered by the person, under the laws of this or another state or the United States, regardless of whether:
* The sentence is subsequently probated and the person is discharged from probation or community supervision;
* Deferred adjudication is granted;
* The accusation, complaint, information, or indictment against the person is dismissed is released from all penalties and disabilities resulting from the offense; or
* The person is pardoned for the offense unless the pardon is granted expressly for subsequent proof of innocence.
3. HAS BEEN CONVICTED OF OR ADMITTED TO CONDUCT which constitutes a class A misdemeanor or a felony under state or federal law, to include the UCMJ. Conviction of or admission to conduct that constitutes a class A misdemeanor or a felony will result in a permanent disqualification.
An applicant will not be considered for employment while charges are pending for any criminal offense.
4. HAVING A CONVICTION FOR DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (DWI OR DUI) WITHIN TEN (10) YEARS PRECEDING THE DATE OF APPLICATION OR DURING THE HIRING PROCESS. This will result in a temporary disqualification until the ten-year time period has expired from the date of the conviction.
5. EVER BEEN OR CURRENTLY ON COURT-ORDERED COMMUNITY SUPERVISION OR PROBATION ABOVE THE GRADE OF A CLASS B MISDEMEANOR OR A CLASS B MISDEMEANOR WITHIN THE LAST 10 YEARS. This will result in a temporary disqualification until the ten-year time period has expired from the date of the court order.
6. HAS FAILED TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND FLUENTLY SPEAK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. The applicant will be ineligible until the deficiency is corrected.
7. IS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION TO WHICH HE/SHE SEEKS APPOINTMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION. The applicant will be ineligible until he/she is able to perform the essential job functions.
8. IS UNABLE TO OBTAIN A TEXAS DRIVERS LICENSE WITHIN THE SPECIFIED TIME REQUIRED BY THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION CODE. The applicant will be ineligible until he/she is able to obtain a Texas Driver's License.
DISQUALIFIERS LIST
Subject to final interpretation by the Chief of Police or his designee any of the following categories can be used as guidelines for temporary or permanent disqualification.
1. HAS USED ILLICIT SUBSTANCES AS INDICATED IN THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:
Applicants will be temporarily disqualified when they have admitted to conduct which constitutes illegal use of marijuana, or any derivative during the last three (3) years.
Applicants, who admit to conduct which constitutes abuse of legally obtained prescription medication(s), or illegal use of prescription medication(s) of another person, may be temporarily or permanently disqualified. Conduct involving the abuse and/or misuse of prescription medication(s) will be considered on a case-by-case basis with consideration given to circumstances.
Applicants will be permanently disqualified for unlawfully possessing, or using any controlled substance listed in the Texas controlled Substance Act (felony level drug examples: cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine) any time after your 25th birthday. This includes the use of THC oil/vaping products.
If an applicant has used or possessed any felony level drug or any controlled substance listed in the Texas controlled Substance Act prior to their 25th birthday, they must wait 10 years from the last time used. For example, if you used cocaine when you were 20 years of age, you would need to wait until you were 30 years of age to apply.
Applicants will be disqualified for any history of inhaling any solvents, paints, or similar products over 17 years of age (once or twice as a juvenile will be accepted).
Applicants who have used illegal anabolic steroids after 1991 will be disqualified.
2. APPLICANTS WILL BE TEMPORARILY DISQUALIFIED WHO HAVE VIOLATIONS EXCEEDING THREE (3) EVENTS (MOVING VIOLATIONS OR PREVENTABLE ACCIDENTS) IN THE PRECEDING THIRTY-SIX (36) MONTHS OR A RECKLESS DRIVING CONVICTION IN THE PRECEDING SIXTY (60) MONTHS.
Lesser but more severe violations that tend to indicate driving habits that are not compatible with the operation of emergency vehicles and present potential liabilities to the City of Allen will be temporarily disqualified. Re-application will be permitted when the candidate can meet the above standards.
3. HAS BEEN DISMISSED OR RESIGNED IN LIEU OF DISMISSAL FROM ANY EMPLOYMENT FOR INEFFICIENCY, DELINQUENCY, OR MISCONDUCT. THIS WILL BE EVALUATED ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS. Disqualification under this provision will be considered permanent.

This position may serve civil process papers, such as summons, writs of possession, foreclosures, executions, claim and delivery, restraining orders; answer complaint calls and patrol the County in an official vehicle to deter crime or apprehend violators or suspects; serve warrants and make warrant arrests; and/or performing various procedures associated with transporting prisoners for the Sheriff's Department. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary according to areas of assignment. The employee is subject to the usual hazards of law enforcement work.
Examples of Duties
Enforces all the laws of the state and applicable federal laws.
Provides law enforcement services to residents and responds to service requests.

Qualifications

It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.
Additional information
* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.

General Purpose
Under general supervision, provides responsive and courteous police services in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances, generally consisting of routine patrol, interventions, assistance, investigations and traffic regulation duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Police Hiring Disqualifiers
Following is a listing of factors that may disqualify a potential applicant from being hired as a Corinth police officer permanently or for a specified period of time. These causes for disqualification are in accordance with provisions of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement peace officer standards and pertinent state statutes. The applicant is a peace officer transferring from another state to Texas, and as determined by the Collin College Chief of Police, has sufficient prior service to meet both the college/university credit hours and police or military experience.
The Chief of Police has the discretion to waive college hours for lateral police officers with 15 years or more experience.
Must be able to pass the DPS Concept 2 row test with 25% or greater.

Key Responsibilities
* Patrols college facilities and property on foot, bicycle and by motor vehicle; issues citations; secures doors, gates, and other entrances and exits to the grounds and facilities.
* Conducts preliminary investigations, gathers evidence, and obtain witness statements related to automobile accidents, suspected crimes, and nuisances, etc.
* Responsible for responding to calls/complaints from campus or dispatch to assist students, faculty, staff and/or the general public with requests for service/assistance or with civil and criminal complaints.
* Open and secure campus grounds and facilities on a daily basis; set alarms and security surveillance systems.
* Works well with the public, co-workers, and the Dallas College community network.
* Communicates effectives via police radio, telephone and in person.
* Provide daily status reports to supervisor regarding follow-up investigations, potential hazards, etc.
* Maintains compliance with proper data collection procedures necessary for adherence to Texas racial profiling reporting laws.
* Required to handle handguns, baton, and/or defense spray in a safe and effective manner and be tested on same periodically.

* Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct site surveys and threat assessments prior to events, identifying vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.

Provide close protection support for executives and VIPs as required.
Manage access control, credentialing, and perimeter security for event sites.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders on event security matters.

Document and report all security activities, risks, and incidents post-event.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of professional experience in event security management, executive protection, or related security operations.
Demonstrated success leading security teams in high-profile or large-scale event environments.
Experience coordinating with law enforcement and security vendors.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with executives and staff at all levels.
Proven ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure.
Willingness to travel extensively (50%-75% of the time, often on short notice) and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Background in executive protection or dignitary protection programs.
EMT, paramedic, military corpsman, or other advanced medical training strongly preferred.
