6 + years of relevant experience.
3 + years of experience with SCI.
Must be familiar with security policy/manuals and the appropriate ICDs/JAFANs/DOD Manuals and other guiding policy documents
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ year relevant experience with SAR programs desired.

The next three selection components (Physical Agility Exam, Oral Interview Examination and Background Orientation) are all consolidated in one full day of testing.

The University Police Department (UPD) provides contemporary law enforcement safety services including patrol, public safety, traffic, investigations, community engagement, crime prevention, and security services.
Under general supervision, the Campus Safety Specialist performs security, public safety support, community engagement, and related community service functions to support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming campus environment for all Titans to thrive. As a team member of UPD, the Campus Safety Specialist shall support efforts to ensure equity and inclusion are incorporated into department operations, programs, services, and culture. A Campus Safety Specialist patrols the University on foot, bicycle, and vehicle to maintain high visibility to protect the campus community and visitors from fire, theft, vandalism, threats, and other safety concerns. Provide safety support to designated social workers and/or police officers during the response to people in crisis for situations that do not involve weapon(s) or violence. When directed, the Campus Safety Specialist will transport people in crisis to designated facilities. They will also provide safety escorts to community members. Assists in the education, intervention, and enforcement of campus policies and regulations. Proactively monitor security cameras and download footage to support investigations as part of the department's crime prevention efforts as well as assist dispatch in answering non-emergency phone calls when needed.

ABOUT THE POLICE ACADEMY: The Academy provides training in basic criminal investigation processes and techniques; preparation of various reports; analysis of situations to make appropriate decisions under stressful situations; testify and present evidence in court, and practices and theory in criminal and civil law enforcement.

The ability to talk to order suspects to halt and to drop any weapons, to communicate and warn other officers of a dangerous situation, to conduct field interviews with suspects or witnesses, and to talk on the police radio to indicate status of incident and other vital details is required. ELIGIBILITY LIST
Candidates must pass all three (3) of the steps listed above to be placed on the City's Eligibility List. The application screening and physical agility test are all qualifying steps (pass/fail). The oral interview evaluation is weighted 100% and determines a candidates' placement on the eligibility list. The City of Santa Ana is now accepting PELLETB scores from other agencies. The PELLETB exam must have been completed within 6 months of application date in order for scores to be used in lieu of the Frontline National Examination. The minimal acceptable score is 46.
The next three selection components (Physical Agility Exam, Oral Interview Examination and Background Orientation) are all consolidated in one full day of testing.
2. PHYSICAL AGILITY EXAM: (qualifying) will evaluate each applicant's physical strength, agility and endurance in the following timed components:
* 1.5 MILE RUN The 1.5 mile run must be completed within 14 minutes to pass the City of Santa Ana physical agility test.
* 500 YARD RUN Run 500 yards
* SOLID FENCE CLIMB Run 5 yards to a 6-foot solid fence, climb over fence, and continue running another 25 yards
