Essential Job Duties

Position Overview
The Valentis Armed Security Officer (ASO) is responsible to provide armed security services at our client sites, conduct random foot and vehicle patrols in and around the specific site community, and respond to incidents and other situations as needed. ASO is responsible for identifying and handling security threats, unsafe conditions, or hazards, and/or other emergency situations. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site. Applicants must be able to conduct themselves in a calm, professional manner to uphold the expected standards of our company. In addition, this individual will coordinate work with other officers of the company, respond to various inquiries for information and report pertinent information to company supervisors. Various levels of required training are required for this position and are company paid.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Physically check buildings and facilities for occupancy and insure they are locked and secured when empty.
Make frequent inspections of all assigned facilities, including parking areas, offices, and piers.
Takes appropriate action in reporting, stopping and correcting violations, fires and hazards.
Enforces policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Works closely with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies.
Investigate criminal offenses, incidents, marine and personal injury accidents, and file appropriate reports in a timely manner.
Records details of patrol, all vessel activity, cargo activity, unauthorized dockings, and breaches of security.
Initiates fire, accident, and loss prevention efforts to include corrective action.
Reports any breaches of physical security and/or damage to equipment.
Monitor, note, report, and investigate suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards and unusual or illegal activity in patrol area.
Provide information and assistance to all requests as may be required to contribute to the smooth and efficient conduct of client business.
Maintains a record of vessel activity and vessel movements during assigned shift.
Lock and unlock doors, gates and barriers as needed to exercise proper control of vehicular and pedestrian.
Assist security officers at other regulated facilities when needed.
Perform other duties as needed to comply with the officer's function.

Special Requirements
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
Must be able to secure a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) to obtain access to restricted facility areas within a 30-day period.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a valid permit/license required by the state in which the employee is employed, and successfully complete a background investigation.
Applicant must have a valid driver's license, or the ability to access public transportation to ensure regular and predictable on-time attendance.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum two (2) or more years of armed security level work experience is desired.
Prior experience in law enforcement, the military, or the security industry is a plus.
Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments, and write effective, concise, and legible reports.
Applicant will be required to travel to Pittsburgh for training. Travel and training is company paid.
Skill(s)
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient typing skills; working knowledge of security services, along with the operational policies and procedures that impact such services; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 30 lbs. or less; visual, auditory, and speaking skills.
