SUMMARY:
This position performs responsible police work involving the protection and safety of the tribal community, guests and visitors through prevention and control of crime, preserving peace, regulating traffic, and providing emergency services; and performs related duties as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Patrol the tribal community to enforce laws, detect and prevent crime, provide traffic control and protect life and property
Respond to domestic and disputes, and to complaints from citizens of crimes committed, lost or stolen property, and other law enforcement or public safety concerns

Testify in court as arresting officer; consult with prosecuting attorneys and investigators
Interview witnesses and victims and take their statements; interrogate suspects
Administer Datamaster test and transport intoxicated people to jail or a detox facility
Assist other agencies such as the county, city and area communities, and the State Highway Patrol as needed; act as backup to mutual aid participants
Review daily reports made by other officers to determine activity in the community and potential problems

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Must have an associate degree in law enforcement or equivalent
Be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Peace Officer in the state of Minnesota
Obtain a First Responder Certification including CPR and Automated Defibrillator equipment certification within one year of hire and maintain thereafter at an Emergency Medical Responder Level
Considerable knowledge of police procedures and techniques including operation of police vehicles, radios, radar and related equipment

Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic Senior Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service, security presence and response. A Senior Security Officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property to deter crime and undesirable behaviors while building trusted relationships with staff; Responds to security and other emergency incidents to ensure safety of occupants and enforce Mayo policies; Prepares accurate and timely incident reports; May use a security vehicle to proactive patrol and respond to incidents.
A Senior Security Officer adapts to unpredictable and stressful situations while demonstrating professionalism; manages verbal and physical aggression using verbal de-escalation techniques; manages physical violence using self-defense, control and restraint techniques, including handcuffing or medical restraints; responds to emergency crises effectively and professionally.; exhibits good judgment, maturity, initiative, tact and diplomacy when dealing with people during stressful situations. A Senior Security Officer must exercise sound independent judgment in both emergency and routine situations.
A Senior Security Officer is responsible to deter terrorist activity and/or violent attacks through patrolling and searching for suspicious behavior and suspicious items utilizing the tactics and techniques taught in Behavior Detection Officer Certification Training. In addition, the Senior Security Officer must be able to conduct effective customer friendly security interviews to confirm or refute the suspicious behaviors detected.
A Senior Security Officer assists in overseeing the activities and supervision of security officers on an assigned shift by providing input, recommending appropriate action and dissemination of information. They provide input into staff appraisals and assist with leadership functions.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with one year security, healthcare, corrections, law enforcement or military experience or Associates degree with three years security, healthcare, corrections, law enforcement or military experience or HS/GED with five years security, healthcare, corrections, law enforcement or military experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office software applications; able to work independently and act decisively under difficult circumstances; ability to work collaboratively in a team-environment; able to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time; able to recognize and react to health conditions, symptoms and injuries and to apply first aid/basic life support; requires strong sense of customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors and employees; ability to relate positively with people; requires strong written and verbal skills; strong problem solving skills are necessary. Has the ability to read and communicate effectively in a pleasant, courteous, professional, and friendly manner while being firm when the occasion demands; sufficient muscle movement strength and coordination to perform self-defense, control and restraint techniques.
Preferred experience with healthcare security to include knowledge of assessments of security sensitive and/or high-risk areas, healthcare specific security processes to include delivering security service in a non-ferrous workspace, and/or a sterile workspace (including don/doff of protective clothing), experience supporting decontamination activities related to chemical spills/contamination. Preferred experience with fire protections systems and responding to fires in office-setting and healthcare settings; Preferred experience with healthcare specific security systems designed to safeguard infants and prevent infant abductions. Preferred experience in protecting work environments from obvious information leakage resulting in HIPAA violations.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy; must have or obtain within 6 months International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Advanced Level Healthcare Security Officer certification ; Must have BLS certification and Stop The Bleed training; must have Verbal Judo or equivalent verbal de-escalation certification; must have AVADE Level 2 certification or equivalent self-defense training; must have AVADE Level 3 certification or equivalent control techniques training; must have AVADE Handcuffing certification or equivalent training; must have Bronze Quality Level certification or equivalent quality improvement training; must have Behavior Detection Officer certification or equivalent training; must have current Taser qualification; may be required to obtain firearms qualification and certification.

Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence. A Security officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security sensitive areas.
