In addition to attending the POST Basic Police Academy to gain training and proficiency in law enforcement terminology, concepts, and techniques, and to gain the requisite knowledge to be eligible to perform the duties of a sworn peace officer, candidates may perform the following duties as assigned:
Ride with officers to observe and learn peace officer responsibilities and techniques.
Operate police information equipment, including computer systems, teletypes and telephones to enter and research information at the direction of an Officer or police civilian.

Oral Panel Interview:
Oral panel interviews are weighted at 100% of a candidates score. Those whom have scored the highest will be placed on the register of eligibles and referred to the department for further consideration.
Background Investigation:
The most qualified candidates will be provided a conditional offer letter and invited to move forward in the selection process to a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation and/or policy. Candidates will be required to complete and submit a State of California Personal History Statement (POST Form 2-251 Rev. 01/2024). The information that you provide in the Personal History Statement will be used in the background investigation to assist in determining your suitability for the position of Police Officer (Recruit), in accordance with POST Commission Regulation 1953. Background investigations will also include live scan fingerprinting, and polygraph examination.
Those candidates who pass the background investigation portion of the selection process may be invited to a Chief's interview. Based on a candidates suitability as determined by the background investigation and Chief's interview, a pre-placement psychological and medical examination would be the next step in the selection process.

Job Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
1. Maintain law and order within and surrounding City College campuses and other district sites.
2. Provide a safe and secure environment for the students, faculty, staff and visitors.
3. In a professional and courteous manner; respond to all emergencies on District property.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This classification may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, running or sitting for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; possible exposure to physical injury and other dangers inherent in police work. Must possess satisfactory hearing capabilities and visual acuity of at least 20/100 correctable to at least 20/30 in each eye. Officers are required to wear police uniforms, a bullet proof vests, and required police gear.

1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days during spring break. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. * Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. Position Summary
The University Police Department (UPD) is responsible for enforcement of all laws, apprehension of violators, maintenance of order, preservation of human life, protection, and safety services to the SF State community. **Job Purpose**
Employees hired into the entry level, non-sworn Deputy Sheriff Cadet (trainee) position will be assigned to attend a California P.O.S.T. certified basic police training academy or a regular basic academy requalification course, if applicable. Candidates who meet department performance expectations and successfully pass the basic police academy or meet the requalification criteria will be sworn in as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for Santa Clara County in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the Sheriff of Santa Clara County. This agreement provides for the deputization of Stanford Deputies as sworn peace officers, having full law enforcement powers to make arrest and enforce state laws and county ordinances pursuant to section 830.6 of the California Penal Code. Upon deputization, the incumbent will enter the Field Training program as a probationary Deputy Sheriff.
At the academy, the Deputy Sheriff Cadet will receive basic training that complies with the standards set by the California Commission of Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T). The basic training program includes approximately 920 hours of academic classes, hands-on training and physical conditioning. Knowledge-based training includes, but is not limited to: Criminal Law, Patrol Procedures, Cultural Diversity, Investigative Procedures, Report Writing, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Leadership, Ethics, Community Policing, Police Vehicle Operations, Traffic Enforcement, Accident Investigation, Handling Emotional Situations and First Aid/CPR. Hands-on training includes, but not limited to: weapons training, role playing scenarios, patrol procedures, emergency vehicle operations, and arrest and control techniques. Recruits are required to complete 80 hours of instruction in defensive tactics which includes ground control, baton training, control holds and take downs. The physical conditioning program consists of specific performance tests and a program of physical training. The training includes running (distance and speed), push-ups, sit-ups, weight training and calisthenics.
During the course of their work, the Deputy Sheriff Cadet will be exposed to potentially dangerous and adverse conditions. The Deputy Sheriff Cadet must be willing and able to work in emergency situations, confined spaces, and intense life-threatening conditions. Cadets will be exposed to persons whose actions may place them in harm's way. Cadets will be exposed to bodily fluids, fumes, moving objects, and noise. Candidates must be physically able to work in circumstances requiring running, jumping, walking, crawling, kneeling, climbing, stooping, pulling and moderate lifting.
The Deputy Sheriff Cadet must be willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions and able to work irregular work hours and able to work all shifts. SUDPS personnel are considered "essential" or "required" University personnel and shall respond to campus when directed to do so, even with little advanced notification.

**General Requirements:**
· Possess of a valid California Class C Driver's License prior to appointment.
· Legally able to work in California.
· Be 21 years of age or older.
· Possess a U.S. high school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
· Have completed forty - five (45) semester units or sixty (60) quarter units from an accredited college or university.
· Be free of any **felony** conviction or certain **misdemeanor** convictions that are disqualifying.
· Ability to pass an extensive background investigation including medical and psychological examinations.
· Be of good **moral character** as determined by a thorough background investigation.

Part of this role, is to work closely with the Multicultural Communities team by assisting with administrative support, welcome our Client's to our service, information sharing and other duties as negotiated. The key responsibility of the Information and Intake Officer is to ensure that the front desk is managed effectively, that all our Clients are treated with respect at all times and providing a positive experience for each Client which is in line with the expectations of CORE.
The other aspect of the role is the Complex Case Support, which is there to provide administrative support to the Settlement Services Program which the target group are refugees and humanitarian entrants who may have multiple and complex needs in crisis situations. A key function of this task is to work closely with the team to actively engage clients to use their skills to stabilise their personal circumstances and assist them out of crisis, enhance their access to services that would enable them to participate equitably in the Australian society, irrespective of their ethnic, cultural or religious backgrounds.
1. Provide office support services in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the Multicultural Communities Service.
2. Effectively manage the front desk by ensuring that all inquiries by the public are handled in a professional manner at all times.
3. Receive, direct and relay messages direct clients and the general public to the appropriate staff member or the applicable service.
4. Provide information about classes, services, useful information to the clients.
5. Manage the incoming mail and distribute it as required.
6. Implement and maintain the general filing system and file all correspondence.
7. Assist in the preparation of meetings, activities, events and conferences.
