Officers receive direction from the Chief of Police and carry our those assignments in accordance with established operating procedures, but at all times an officer must be able to act without direct supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Exercise authority consistent with the obligation imposed by the oath of office. Patrol assigned areas on the Omaha Reservation to enforce laws, investigate crimes, and arrest violators. Shall promptly obey all legitimate orders. Drives vehicles though assigned areas, observing and investigates disturbances, such as unlawful intrusions, fines and property damage. Patrols designed areas of the reservation on foot, motorcycles, bicycles, horse, or car to serve and protect the public. Ordinarily the hours of duty will be established by the supervisor, however, they shall be subject to return to duty at any time in case of special needs to emergencies.
