Operates Press to develop end-result printed material in accordance with customer specifications:
Operate press, troubleshoot and monitor press operation. Prepares press by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by matching inks, resolving defects and adjustments to exceed customer expectation. By performing a variety of make ready task and press operations from mixing inks and solvents, replenishing supplies, resolving printing defects and adjustments to press to produce high quality product. Oversee roll stand service. Check posted viscosity time to maintain correct viscosity of inks. Check and keep solvent and ink containers filled. Fill auto viscosity containers, solvent tanks and cans as needed. Make adjustments, clear jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality. Ensure efficient and rapid make ready, with unloading and loading of printing carriages and rotary tools.
QUALITY:
Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy. Makes sure jobs are complete and error free.
Inspect cartons for proper color, register, cutting, creasing and defect free. Ensures finished product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ensure all checklists are completed.
EHS AND CLEAN:
Ensures complete adherence and compliance to the EHS and Clean policies. Assists team members in maintaining clean and safe environment.
Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for safety, personal protection and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines. The Operator is responsible for operating a process-specific flexographic printing and/or printing-cutting machine to meet established production requirements and for performing activities associated with safe machine operation, setup, and changeover. The Operator is also responsible for reporting any equipment malfunction on their machine to management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operation:
Run orders to customer specifications by operating the printing or printing/cutting machine at the established production rate. Read and interpret job orders and set up machine-specific feeder, stacker, rolls, print and/or die cut sections, conveyor, and scrap conveyor components. Maintain machine-specific operating efficiency and quality by adjusting speed, tension, registration, and other key settings as necessary. Perform process-specific changeovers by replacing plates, blankets, or cylinders and setting up required materials for the next production run. Use RF scanners to record transactions into the Warehouse Management System and generate appropriate labels as required.
Quality Control:
Set up and verify feed sections for both sheets and rolls, confirming that materials feed properly. Check the discharge section to ensure proper stacking. Perform all required quality checks prior to production and at assigned inspection points throughout the process. Monitor ink quality and print appearance during production. Install and verify mounting of machine-specific dies.
Maintenance:
Clean the ink fountain, Uteco and F&K printing plates, and printing unit cylinders upon run completion or shutdown. Maintain proper ink levels for all active colors and verify ink consistency and conformity. Replace essential components like doctor blades as needed. Perform sanitation tasks and maintain housekeeping around the printing and cutting areas. Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and support basic repairs on Uteco and F&K presses. Monitor ink, plate, and die inventory and maintain organized tooling storage.
Reporting and Record Keeping:
Record data on required forms and complete all line documentation as directed. Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance records to support traceability and compliance.
