About the Role:
The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the Estimating team for various electrical construction projects. This includes administering operating budgets, staffing, work assignments, salary and performance reviews. The Chief Estimator will also support and administer all department standards and procedures as well as be responsible for the final review and approvals of estimate packages. The Chief Estimator will coordinate with the Operations Manager and Division Manager for the selection of projects to pursue.

Essential Functions
Take on leadership functions within the Estimating department
Review and evaluate requests for estimates, proposals and/or qualifications
Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates
Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy
Maintain and improve precision database
Develop and maintain cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates
Develop and maintain estimating procedures and guidelines
Prepare reports as needed
Set departmental budget
Determine constructability requirements
Lead, direct, and audit the work of assigned staff; act as a mentor
Advise staff of company policy expectations
Coordinate employee performance reviews
Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients
May develop training requirements for the estimating staff
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

About You:
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Lead or Senior level Estimator
10+ years of experience within the construction industry
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of the N.E.C. and local codes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and estimating software
Team player with excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
Ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals and other documents

Providing customers with lead times and freight quotes.

Complete understanding of the manufacturing process to ensure proper calculation of labor and engineering cost.
Participation in location meetings and collaborating with cross functional teams.
Understand customer needs and expectations to develop our value proposition.
Assimilate and communicate market segment research and competitor analysis.
Respond to requests in a timely fashion. Gather market intelligence when possible and share with the RSM, Estimator and Commercial Director.
Follow up with customers post quote to ensure pricing is competitive and that lead times are acceptable.
Ensure approval drawings are provided when necessary. Customer expectations must match quoted solutions.
Build internal relationships with cross functional team members.
Job Requirements
Experience in an Estimating role with a metal fabrication company.
Ability to solve complex math problems and a fundamental knowledge of weights and measures.
Computer Competency-Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and functional ERP systems.
This is a collaborative role. Must work well in a team environment.
Compensation
Compensation will range between 65K - 70K annually.

This is a position for a candidate experienced as a self-perform mechanical and plumbing trades estimator on complex industrial, institutional and health care projects. Estimates on similar type projects is required.
Basic Qualifications:
Prior completion of mechanical and plumbing estimates with project size exceeding $25 million
Demonstrated experience in estimating for both, hard-bid and negotiated projects.
Demonstrated experience developing accurate estimates from schematic design documents.

SUMMARY:
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labor, equipment, and materials/subcontractor estimates for bid projects applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.

You will be responsible for preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, developing cost estimates, analyzing drawings and specifications, and coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely project deliverables. You will be responsible to help develop technical proposals and schedules.
You will play a critical role in bridging estimating, engineering, and field operations - helping to translate conceptual designs into constructible, cost-effective solutions. This position is ideal for professionals ready to advance beyond entry-level work, with a solid foundation in construction and a growing ability to manage portions of bids and preconstruction tasks independently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (Engineering preferred).
5-7+ years of experience in construction estimating, project engineering, or preconstruction.
Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and materials.
Experience with Bluebeam, CADD software, and estimating tools such HeavyBid, or equivalent platforms.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate material and labor estimates.
Perform detailed takeoffs using McCormick or similar estimating software.
Prepare and submit bid proposals and change orders within required timelines.
Identify cost-saving alternatives while maintaining quality and compliance with project requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to transition awarded projects from pre-construction to execution.
Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
Mentor and support junior estimators and promote teamwork across departments.
Qualifications
5+ years of electrical estimating experience (commercial, industrial, or civil).
Proficiency in McCormick, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and construction practices.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to walk construction sites and wear required PPE.
