Pros of working at Oklahoma Blood Institute

The PROS of working at OBI is this is truly God's work. I know that everyday I make a difference in someone's life. I've met so many people, heard a lot of stories and know a bunch of reasons why some folks donate. And all of them simply want to help their fellow man. We are our brothers keeper!

Cons of working at Oklahoma Blood Institute

I CONS of working at OBI is probably the fact that it can be long days and hours. You will probably see more days that push you to your limit. But, at the end of those days you will look back over them and KNOW you've done an amazing thing that not only affects so many in our communities, but could possibly affect your own life and those you love and care about. Exhaustion from that kind of work is not only rewarding but it can be oddly invigorating; because the reflection of the miracles we help create is indescribable.

Oklahoma Blood Institute benefits

My favorite perk or benefit of working at OBI is definitely being a link in the chain in saving lives at the WBBB. I've done this kind of work in another major blood bank and I did not feel then the way I feel today. OBI puts action behind their words. As an employee I have always been supported, recognized, and rewarded, consistently. Our efforts as members of this team are returned to us. I've truly never been valued in this manner at any job I worked before OBI. Saving lives and being rewarded on top of that makes OBI a place you don't want to leave. It makes you want to stay after the drive is suppose to be over for those 10 extra units, cause it's worth it all!

What do you like best about Oklahoma Blood Institute's CEO and the leadership team?

What I like best about the CEO and the leadership team is how I feel like an equal. That may sound like a weird thing to say. What I mean is those I've had the pleasure to meet have always made me feel seen and heard. I love the way they celebrate their Supervisors and training staff every year. It's truly energizing and uplifting!

How would you improve Oklahoma Blood Institute's culture?

I would improve the company culture by allowing the staff in donor services to get more visits to our everyday drives by our CEO and leadership staff, when possible. I know how valued the staff and donors feel when they visit while in town. Especially the donors because its not seen very often.

How did you prepare for the Oklahoma Blood Institute interview?

I prepared for an interview with OBI by refreshing myself with our SOP. I utilized the knowledge I gained from my everyday tasks and other seasoned staff.

How does your compensation at Oklahoma Blood Institute compare to the industry average?

In my experience, the compensation @OBI when compared to the industry average is one that enables me to comfortably support my family and our lifestyle. The better I perform my expected duties, the better I am compensated.

What's the diversity at Oklahoma Blood Institute like?

The representation of diverse demographics within my organization is truly across the board. OBI is absolutely all inclusive. If you want to be a part of a great mission that ties you to the community and provides a good livelihood, come to OBI. You will not be alone.

What brings you the most joy at Oklahoma Blood Institute?

Personally, the most enjoyable aspect of my job is being a part of something bigger than myself. I am totally sold into our mission and I strive every shift to help maintain it. I'm constantly spreading the word on blood donations and how it takes everyone in our community to ensure blood is available when it's needed.
