    JOB INFORMATION * Job Title: Distribution Lineman Apprentice * Job Code: 105703 * Job Grade: Apprentice 25 Performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, transmission facilities, and street light systems to provide continuous and dependable electric service to customers. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY * The apprentice level is a training program consisting of classes, Computer Based Curriculum and on-the-job training to obtain the qualifications to achieve the journey (fully qualified) level of the job. As training is satisfactorily completed and performance meets expectations, the apprentice moves to higher levels of responsibility and correspondingly higher pay until the journey level is achieved. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * May investigate and document events of cut or damaged cable and other company facilities, as needed. * May operate a variety of electronic and other test equipment with a high degree of efficiency, as needed. * Members in the apprentice program perform duties related to the craft and consistent with their achieved level within the program which may include: * Climb poles, set poles and string wire, utilizes and operates equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, and other construction equipment), materials, and manpower in a safe, efficient and effective manner. * Constructs and maintains overhead and underground distribution or transmission systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. * All other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS * Associate's Degree in a Technical discipline (i.e. Electronics/Engineering Technology/Power Plant Operations/High Voltage/etc); Or * High School Diploma/GED and Certificate of completion/diploma in Electrical Power Technology, High Voltage, or related Power Line Technology; Or * High School Diploma/GED and prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214 combined with utility line experience; Or * High School Diploma/GED and utility line experience.
