1988

"Orchestra Born in WPA Era," Daily Oklahoman (Oklahoma City), 3 July 1988.

1999

Summer 1999 – Chamber Orchestra founded with Dawn Thrailkill

2001

In September 2001, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic opened its season in the newly renovated Civic Center Music Hall.

2002

Fall 2002 – Renowned cellist, Joshua Roman, rehearses with his OYO ensemble group

2004

Summer 2004 – OYW founded with Doctor Matthew Mailman

2012

2012 – To better convey our work and mission, the name Oklahoma Youth Orchestras is adopted

2013

Summer 2013 – Oklahoma Youth Orchestra welcomes Executive Director, Jason Edward Grife

2014

Summer 2014 – Rockin’ Strings founded with Karina Fisher

2016

August 2016 – Organization welcomes full time Program Manager, Caleb Mitchum

2017

July 2017 – Organization welcomes Artistic Director Jeffrey Grogan

September 2017 – Our Ruby 40th Anniversary celebration with a season full of special guests and concerts!

2018

In 2018, Alexander Mickelthwate was named the second music director of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

Summer 2018 – Organization refreshes its branding and adds a “K” to the logo to become OKYO

2021

September 2021 - Festival Winds was founded with Doctor Mike Raiber
