Principal Accountabilities:
Assures that protective services investigations are conducted on a timely basis:
Thoroughly investigates reported allegations through interviews and assessment with the elder and collateral contacts.
Assesses risk and elder's capacity.
Determines whether abuse has occurred and report can be substantiated.
Assures on-going follow up for substantiated cases:

Qualifications:
Education and Experience: A Master's or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, or gerontology plus at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention capacity; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, or gerontology plus at least two years experience in counseling, casework, or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services.

Protective Services Screener
This position is responsible for screening protective services reports, for evaluating risk, and for assigning reports in compliance with AGE and agency guidelines. This screener shall report directly to the Protective Services Quality and Intake supervisor. This is a five-day work week position.
The Protective Services Screener shall:
Establish the existence of a reportable condition.
Contact mandated reporters, including Bristol reporters.
Obtain collateral information necessary to make a screening decision.
Evaluate risk and determines priority level of intakes and speed of response.
Document on paper and in the computer based on agency and AGE requirements.
Assign cases to protective services workers.
Make appropriate referrals to community resources for reports that are screened out.
Offer consultation on resources and provides case direction to assist in accessing resources.
Provide consultation to determine the need for and appropriateness of protective services referrals.
Education and experience: A master's or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing or gerontology
plus
at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention capacity;
or
a bachelor's degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, or gerontology
plus
at least two years' experience in counseling, casework or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services.
Special Skills/Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively relate to a wide variety of personalities; proven risk and capacity assessment skills, crisis intervention skills, basic computer skills, organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Principal Accountabilities:
