This position is to allow a Maintenance Tech Apprentice the opportunity to learn OD Maintenance Shop operations and OD company culture. The apprentice position is part-time to allow students to have flexible work hours while attending school. The apprentice will learn to repair company equipment in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and practical manner, including performing preventative maintenance, general repairs, troubleshooting, and electronic diagnostics. The apprentice will also be tasked with a project throughout the internship and will be required to present on the project at the conclusion of the apprenticeship. Upon completion, the apprentice may be considered for future employment. Primary Responsibilities + Learn maintenance shop operations by shadowing team members and various positions, such as Maintenance Technicians, Parts Coordinators, Supervisors, and Managers. + Learn to repair company equipment effectively and safely. + Learn to d iagnose any mechanical, electrical, or other breakdown or failure to a motor truck or related equipment + Gain knowledge of precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi-meters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools + When applicable, learn basic techniques of welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete truck repairs + Gain a basic understanding of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations Job Qualifications Education: + High school diploma or equivalent, currently attending a Diesel Truck Maintenance Degree Program + GPA minimum of 2.5 Experience: + Willingness to learn Maintenance Shop Operations and complete assigned projects + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Great interpersonal skills with a positive attitude Working Days: Shift and hours to be determined. Summary of Essential Duties: Responsible for the maintenance management of assigned outstation maintenance locations. Ensures maintenance is performed in a safe and compliant manor. In coordination with Aircraft Maintenance Planning, ensures scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is accomplished at assigned maintenance location(s). Familiar working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, industry best practices, OSHA and IS-BAO requirements. Complies with Company policies and procedures outlined within the General Maintenance Manual (GMM), Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM) or any Company standard operating procedure document. Maintains a safe work environment and reports any unsafe conditions. Performs quality maintenance, preventive maintenance, and inspections to conform within the standards established by the Company, Federal regulation and industry best practices achieving the highest reliability goals. Ensures Outstation Monthly Checklists are accomplished and that any findings are corrected. Provides technical support, as needed, in support of assigned aircraft. Updates and interfaces with computerized maintenance tracking program(s). Ensures aircraft parts are requested in a timely manner to address unscheduled and deferred maintenance items. Perform maintenance planning along with the management oversight of inspections, repairs and modifications. Ensures timely scheduling of maintenance in order to least impact flight schedule and provide for high degree of aircraft availability. Proactively provides recommendations for company policies and procedures. Assist in locating on-call maintenance providers in his/her assigned region. Provides support in troubleshooting defective aircraft systems and components in an effective manner. Ensures that necessary tooling and/or equipment is available to accomplish the assigned project/task. Responsible for accuracy of time and attendance/personal leave ensuring adequate coverage to support the maintenance operation. Recommend specific training for employee personnel and help determine attendees. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned or required. Physical Requirements: Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands; and talk and hear. Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required Ability to travel within assigned region to provide required oversight and assistance. Two (2) years of college or equivalent technical training, in related field preferred Ten (10) years of experience in aviation maintenance. Three (3) years or more in a supervisory role within a 14 CFR Part 135 or Part 121 operation, preferred. Practical aircraft maintenance experience on assigned or similar type of aircraft. Thorough knowledge of maintenance planning, along with management oversight of inspections, repairs, and modifications. Operational knowledge of laptop and desktop computers, working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat or related presentation programs.
