The Opportunity
We are looking for a SIU Investigator (mid-level). This is a "Desk" position. Besides solid experience as an SIU Investigator within P&C, you will have strong underwriting skillset as part of working within underwriting, investigating post-bind or part of an underwriting investigative team. Within defined guidelines and framework, protects USAA and our members from potential fraudulent claims by investigating questionable, suspect claims activity in compliance with state insurance fraud-related laws and regulations and policies and procedures.
This role is remote eligible. You can live anywhere in the Continental US. There may be occasional business travel involved.
What you'll do:
Applies knowledge and understanding of fraud schemes and investigation strategies on any questionable or suspect first or third part claims.
Participates in the development of fraud prevention strategies.
Applies knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, and processes in investigating claims to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.
Applies knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to insurance fraud in investigating claims.
Collects evidence of potential fraud through field or remote interviews and thorough searches of investigative databases, internal resources, Internet resources, public records, and forensic tools.
Makes recommendations within defined authority guidelines.
Prepares and presents detailed and comprehensive verbal and written investigative reports summarizing the results of the investigation and recommended outcome.
Develops and maintains external relationships with industry, law enforcement and other contacts involved in fraud investigation, detection, and prevention.
May serve as a resource team member on specific matters through demonstrated skill or training.
Assists with the delivery of fraud awareness training initiatives in a defined environment.
Handles CAT duty responsibilities as business requires.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
2+ years claims adjusting experience, or P&C SIU/Fraud Investigation experience OR 4+ years prior investigative law enforcement (to include military) or relevant fraud industry investigation experience.
Proven investigatory skills.
Experience obtaining statements from various parties to incidents, witnesses, and suspects.
Ability to gather broad range of evidence and draw conclusions based on the objective details related to the applicability of fraud.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload, performing multiple tasks and devising solutions to problems.
Familiarity with using computers and various software packages to enter and extract data for analysis from relevant data sources and systems.
Knowledge of city, state and local regulations, legal concepts, understanding of contracts, case law, medical treatment, and medical terminology.

Compensation range: This is an hourly position. However, the annualized salary range for this position is: $77,120 - $147,390

GENERAL FUNCTION: Position incumbent provides vital security support and guidance to personnel. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Initiate investigations of robbery, burglary, larceny, fraud, and other financial crimes committed against the Bank and our customers to include both internal and external incidents under the supervision of the Regional Investigations Manager.

Minimum Requirements:
* Five years of experience in financial institution fraud investigations, corporate investigations or relevant field required. Other banking experience may be accepted as a substitute for this requirement.
* Bachelor's Degree in the field of criminal justice, business management, finance, economics, accounting, social sciences, legal studies, etc., preferred.
* Professional certification (Certified Fraud Examiner or similar) preferred. Professional designations may be substituted for a portion of the experience or educational requirement where applicable.
* Experience in evaluating fraud claims; making fraud-related crediting decisions; identifying liability issues; and appropriate defenses based on understanding of Uniform Commercial Code Check Guidelines, Reg E, bank depository agreements, etc., preferred.
* Experience in interviewing victims, claimants, bank associates, witnesses, and suspects.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our Team:
The Cboe Regulatory Division is responsible for the oversight of the markets for which it has regulatory responsibility and market participants. The Division endeavors to achieve this goal through effective and efficient surveillance, examination, and investigative programs aimed at detecting and disciplining or preventing violative or otherwise inappropriate behavior.

What You'll Do:
Options Investigators in the Division are responsible for conducting focused investigations of trading activities on the Exchanges to detect possible violations of Exchange Rules, By-Laws, and interpretations and policies, and the SEC rules and regulations thereunder, or other improper activities.
In this role, you can expect to:
Independently manage investigations from inception to conclusion and completing investigation steps in a timely manner that meet expected guidelines
Build and maintain a thorough understanding of the Exchanges trading and regulatory environments, as well as the broader securities industry, in areas such as markets, products, relevant rules and regulations, technologies and systems, processes and operational methodologies, and investigative techniques, while contributing to the creation of new investigative processes that address potential regulatory concerns
Evaluate and analyze matters to identify potential violations as well as the types of evidence, including data and information, necessary to determine whether the activity in question was violative or otherwise improper via thorough research, collection of evidence and fact-finding
Evaluate and analyze evidence to conclude sufficiency with respect to suspected violations through case law and/or precedent to determine whether non-disciplinary or disciplinary actions are warranted. Recommend appropriate disposition to management for review.
Prepare investigative reports detailing findings in a clear, cohesive manner supported by factual evidence and analysis. Utilize Division guidelines for style and form; present work that is complete and requires minimal revisions.

Present case information to management and Enforcement committees, including formal disciplinary proceedings
Professionally interact with internal regulatory staff and external contacts, such as Members, other Self-Regulatory Organizations, and the SEC

About this position:
The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Investigator is responsible for ensuring adherence to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) through transaction monitoring, investigation of suspicious activity, and the drafting of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), as well as identifying and monitoring high risk activity and high-risk accounts. Makes recommendation to file SARs to the BSA Officer and documents findings. Maintains documentation to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and supports all elements of BSA, AML, USA, PATRIOT Act and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements and in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.
What you'll do:
Utilize standard procedure and independent judgment to investigate and analyze customer account activity in a timely manner. Review suspicious activity alerts from a variety of sources, including but not limited to: AML monitoring software, referrals from branches and back-office "member facing" departments, and other BSA teammates, to accurately distinguish suspicious activity from false positive alerts. Create well documented and organized findings to write justification summaries for false positive decisions made.
Use well documented and organized findings to make recommendations to BSA Management regarding the filing of SAR cases. Prepare all aspects of documentation retention and SAR form for review for submission to FinCEN, which includes accurately and concisely explaining customer and activity in narrative form.
Use AML software to investigate, rate, and monitor high risk members and/or high-risk activity based on LMCU's risk appetite. Document well organized findings according to procedure.
Maintain and update personal knowledge of AML rules, regulations, laws, and best practices.
Performs other tasks or duties as needed to support AML/BSA/Compliance team.
