Summary/Job Scope
This position oversees all operations, strategy, financials, and growth for the ready-mix division in Central Texas (Austin & San Antonio). This position will be critical in driving profitability, quality, and market leadership through expert management of production, sales, logistics, and personnel, while ensuring alignment with company goals and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Key duties involve managing the P&L, process improvement, budgeting, strategic planning, business development, safety, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for directing operations and commercial strategy, reviewing operational reports and financial statements to determine progress, and attaining production and profitability objectives.
* Sales & Business Development: Drive sales, manage key customer/vendor relationships, and develop bids/proposals to expand market share.
* Ensures that the Company establishes and achieves appropriate financial and safety results.
* Safety & Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture and ensure strict adherence to all environmental and regulatory standards.
* Provides strategic direction for growth, initiatives, and expansion. Guides the development of new markets and channels to support growth.
* Develops annual budget, monitors performance, and adjusts strategy to ensure maximum returns are being realized and allocates operating budget. Maximizes profit margin through strategic planning. Full P&L responsibility.
* Ensures effective succession planning and career development. Provides mentoring and employee development to direct reports.
* Serves as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety & health, to ensure alignment with the company's vision and critical success factors. Develop relationships with other key leaders and stakeholders within the industry, such as agencies, associations, major suppliers and contractors.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
* Experience: Extensive background (10+ years) in ready-mix, aggregates, or construction operations and sales.
* Financial Acumen: Strong P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure management.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams.
* Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of concrete operations, supply chain, and market dynamics.
* Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Business, etc.) or commensurate experience.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Ability to manage change, implement process improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

The Screed Operator is responsible for operating the paving machine and/or screed used to spread and level asphalt on highways/private roadways/parking lots/driveways operating screed controls
Key Responsibilities
* Operate the asphalt paver and make normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finish cross section of asphalt material via screed extensions.
* Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.

Provide inspection, testing services, and documentation for ready-mix plant facilities. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, facility managers, DOT personnel, and State, County, and Municipal personnel. Develop and maintain relationships with material suppliers. The Technical Services Field Testing Technician will assist the company in elevating the customers' perception and general quality of our mix designs, eliminating lost loads, generating backup data necessary for mix optimization and overseeing the inspection process of DOT jobs.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote a safety attitude, contribute to the safe operation of the department, and maintain a safe, clean work area.
* Use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test materials for quality control.
* Sample and test mixtures to comply with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
* Follow quality control plans and guidelines assigned.
* Responsible for ensuring the proper mix design, scale weights and water demand of mix designs at batch plants.
* Performs physical tests on ready-mix concrete at the plant, such as slump, entrained air, unit weight, yield, time of setting, and compressive strength.
* At the point of delivery, spot checks sample physical properties as above and discusses necessary adjustments in batch weights with the Manager, plus observes workability, finish ability, and contractor's use or misuse of the product.
* Performs on-site surveys of fleets and facilities producing products to be able to identify delivery problems and recommend solutions.
* Performs physical tests on ready-mix concrete aggregates, such as gradations, decants, sand equivalency, specific gravity and density, and absorption.
* Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed the requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
* Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database. / Keeps a written daily log of activities and observations.
* Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
* Maintain all laboratory equipment, keeping track of all certification paperwork on lab scales and other equipment that requires annual re-certification.
