Job Description
Summary/Objective:
The Mechanic is responsible for the proper repair and maintenance of all company vehicles and equipment and for the safe and proper care of equipment assigned to the mechanic.
Essential Functions:
Maintain and repair automotive vehicles (such as trucks, tractor-trailers, pickups, cars, heavy equipment, and mounted equipment such as mixers and hydraulic systems) and stationary equipment (such as air compressors, welding equipment, and miscellaneous equipment) to company standards; recognize failure symptoms, trouble shoot, inspect, repair or replace, reassemble and test.
Coordinate with Manager to ensure the proper parts and supplies are available when needed.
Recognize potential problems before they occur and perform or order the necessary repair work. Coordinate with the Manager and other mechanics to get the work done.
Complete all required paperwork accurately.
Supervise the Mechanic's Helper ensuring that he/she performs all work as required and follows all company policies and procedures.
Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at ALL times. Wear all required safety equipment. Follow all safety guidelines and notify the Manager or Safety immediately of any current or potential safety issues.
Perform all required inspections.
Follow all environmental regulations. Dispose of chemicals, trash, etc. in designated areas. Recycle when required. Notify the Manager immediately of any current or potential environmental problems.
Keep the shop area and all tools, shop vehicles, and equipment neat, clean, and in good repair. Clean work area at the end of every work shift. Maintain security of all company equipment and tools at all times. Notify the Manager of any problems.
Drive shop vehicle to various plant sites, road calls or other sites of broken equipment.
Drive broken and repaired equipment when necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
Pick up equipment or supplies.
Train other employees.
Fill in for colleagues as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Environment:
Work time will be split between indoors/shop and outdoors/field.
Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells.
Exposure to chemicals such as fuel, grease and oil.
Close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Noise level will be moderate to loud.
Physical Demands:
Lift a maximum weight of 100 lbs., repetitively lift 25 lbs., carry approximately 100 lbs., and push/pull approximately 50 lbs.

As a Polymer Chemist you will provide technical support for applied developmental projects, through successful formulation innovations, product improvements, production efficiencies and improved product service life. * Executes work plan to project timeline, as established at project implementation.
* Prepares formulations and conducts tests in accordance with relevant approved test methodology. Analyzes and validates results to ensure accuracy of data. Reviews results with management and repeats analyses as necessary.
* Creates and documents clear, concise and accurate reports under guidance of direct management, providing insights on results and conclusions based upon data sets.

* Control paving machines to push dump trucks and to maintain a constant flow of asphalt or other material into hoppers or screeds.
* The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected t perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
* Cut or break up pavement and drive guardrail posts, using machines equipped with interchangeable hammers.
* Drive and operate curbing machines to extrude concrete or asphalt curbing.
* Place strips of material such as cork, asphalt, or steel into joints, or place rolls of expansion-joint material on machines that automatically insert material.
* Light burners or start heating units of machines, and regulate screed temperatures and asphalt flow rates.
* Fill tanks, hoppers, or machines with paving materials.
* Operate oil distributors, loaders, chip spreaders, dump trucks, and snow plows.
* Install dies, cutters, and extensions to screeds onto machines, using hand tools.
* Operate machines that clean or cut expansion joints in concrete or asphalt and that rout out cracks in pavement.
* Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using mechanics' hand tools, or report malfunctions to supervisors.
* Coordinate truck dumping.
* Shovel blacktop.
* Control traffic.
* Set up and tear down equipment.

Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Paving Foreman/Foreperson in Danville, VA to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt or similar material to form surfaces of highways, streets, parking lots, aircraft landing strips, and driveways.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment.
* Ensuring the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.
* Ensuring high standards in quality of completed work.
* Training new crew members.
* Calculating the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the hot plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers.
* Touring job sites to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, measure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts, and to supervise the job.
* Supervising and coordinating crew activities, studying production schedules, and estimating work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating the job estimate.
* Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing.
* Maintaining company policy.
* Recommends measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
* Will directly supervise 7 to 14 asphalt paving employees.
Qualifications
* 3 to 5 years of related asphalt and paving experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
* Experience in private/commercial paving required; as well as training and experience in M.O.T.
* Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to type and use keyboards accurately and possess knowledge of Database software.
* Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
* Ability to keep time and material records.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instruction and communicate effectively.
* Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and attributes.

An Asphalt Laborer performs many duties to assist crew when paving roads and highways.
The duties of an Asphalt Laborer can change daily depending on the project and weather. On a typical day, an Asphalt Laborer will stretch, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), push, pull, shovel, walk, stand and squat to assist crew in paving operation.

Job Responsibilities
* Use safe working practice for operations and wear proper protective equipment
* Set up the mixer system to produce compound needed for production
* Check weigh scales periodically for zero reading. Know how to adjust scales to zero. Also, must know how to zero scales with empty bucket or box on scales
* Recognize all ingredients visually. Must be able to recognize per bag what each ingredient is
* Weigh each ingredient to the required formulation. Must be able to understand formulation they are using. Must put in ingredients in proper order to maintain proper batch according to accumulating weights
* Handle material for weighing and supply blender with bucket weighed materials. Be able to operate forklift in tight areas to supply materials to weigh station
* Select and place for use materials for compound to be mixed
* Connect mixer to proper conveying system to generate proper input and pump to correct silo
* Accurately weight each material and add to compounder in the proper order
* Alert foreman when weighing error is discovered
* Stock raw materials for mixing operation per operating policy
* Make routine inspections of mixer system daily. Write work orders for repair of items found not to be operating correctly
* Maintain blend levels in silos as instructed
* Must be able to climb silo and take measurements. Must be able to climb and work on top of railcars
* Keep all hose caps installed on all railcars and hoses to keep dirt and rocks from contaminating resin
* Receive raw materials as directed by operating policy
* Complete all required paperwork as required
* Assist maintenance personnel in repairing blending equipment upon request
* Keep work area neat and clean at all times
Job Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Summary/Objective:
The Mechanic is responsible for the proper repair and maintenance of all company vehicles and equipment and for the safe and proper care of equipment assigned to the mechanic.
Essential Functions:
Maintain and repair automotive vehicles (such as trucks, tractor-trailers, pickups, cars, heavy equipment, and mounted equipment such as mixers and hydraulic systems) and stationary equipment (such as air compressors, welding equipment, and miscellaneous equipment) to company standards; recognize failure symptoms, trouble shoot, inspect, repair or replace, reassemble and test.
Coordinate with Manager to ensure the proper parts and supplies are available when needed.
Recognize potential problems before they occur and perform or order the necessary repair work. Coordinate with the Manager and other mechanics to get the work done.
Complete all required paperwork accurately.
Supervise the Mechanic's Helper ensuring that he/she performs all work as required and follows all company policies and procedures.
Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at ALL times. Wear all required safety equipment. Follow all safety guidelines and notify the Manager or Safety immediately of any current or potential safety issues.
Perform all required inspections.
Follow all environmental regulations. Dispose of chemicals, trash, etc. in designated areas. Recycle when required. Notify the Manager immediately of any current or potential environmental problems.
Keep the shop area and all tools, shop vehicles, and equipment neat, clean, and in good repair. Clean work area at the end of every work shift. Maintain security of all company equipment and tools at all times. Notify the Manager of any problems.
Drive shop vehicle to various plant sites, road calls or other sites of broken equipment.
Drive broken and repaired equipment when necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions:
Pick up equipment or supplies.
Train other employees.
Fill in for colleagues as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Work Environment:
Work time will be split between indoors/shop and outdoors/field.
Exposure to dust and fumes/offensive smells.

Physical Demands:
