Olive View-UCLA Medical Center company history timeline

1987

The rebuilt Olive View–UCLA Medical Center was opened in 1987.

1992

Part of the county-funded healthcare system for medically indigent and low-income patients in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, the hospital's staff delivered care at a site in Van Nuys until May 8, 1987, when Olive View reopened as a 377-bed hospital. It became Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in 1992 and is the principal intake facility for North County patients experiencing a psychiatric emergency.

2008

2008 Move to the new Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center

The 2008 Sayre Fire caused damage to several outbuildings, and led to an evacuation of the intensive care patients from the hospital.

2016

On July 1, 2016, the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA established the UCLA Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM), and named Doctor Gregory W. Hendey its inaugural chair.

Over a nearly 40-year program history, our EM Residency Directors include: Harvey Meislin, David Orban, Jerome Hoffman, Sidney Starkman, Robert Galli, Pamela Dyne ,Scott Votey, and as of October 2016, Rebecca Bavolek.
