Olsons Greenhouse Gardens company history timeline
Armed with an agriculture background, Victor started Olson’s Greenhouses in Taunton, 1916.
A native of Taunton and graduate of Taunton High in 1950, Clive H. Olson has built Olson’s Greenhouses to what it is today, a leading grower in the New England area.
In 1963, Jack Olson built several greenhouses and concentrated on growing hothouse tomatoes (produce) year-round in addition to the spring flower business.
The business moved to its 30 acre Raynham location in 1969 and now farms more than 95 acres in Raynham.
Jack officially took over the family business in 1970.
The family continued producing greenhouse tomato crops until 1977, when full focus was placed upon their quickly expanding bedding plant business with several large chain stores.
In 1987, the business was separated into wholesale and retail divisions, with Brad and his wife, Chris, taking over the Garden Shoppe, while Jack and Bart continued selling wholesale through Olson’s Greenhouse Gardens.
Bart and his wife, Yvonne, took over by 1990 and are still operating the greenhouses today.
In April of 2006, Olson’s Greenhouses was sold to his son Clive v.
OOlson’s has been a family business, celebrating its 100th birthday in 2016.
