OPS Title I Non-Public Tutor, Hourly
Reports To: Title I Project Coordinator
Work Schedule: 10-month (August - May) / less than 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $32/hour
Start Date: TBD - will work with candidate - need to fill for the current 2025-2026 school year
This is an hourly position which is less than part-time. Hourly positions are not reported to the state.
This hourly position will not count towards part-time or full-time work to be able to renew your teaching certificate through Nebraska Department of Education.
It is the responsibility of the candidate/employee to maintain a valid standard teaching certificate while in this hourly position.
Position Function: Title I Non-public Tutor will provide support to small groups of students in a non-public school(s). The small group tutoring sessions will be focused on math and reading content. The tutor will be working with students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade or 9th - 12th grades. Omaha Public School Title I staff will determine the caseload and specific students that the tutor with work with in small groups. This position is funded through the use of federal funds from the U.S. Department Education that are given to State Education Agencies (SEA), of which then direct those funds to Local Education Agencies (LEA). It provides funds for reading/language arts and math curriculum to students in impoverished areas who are at risk of failing to meet state standards. Title 1 funds are used to support eligible students attending private schools.

Position Purpose: Screens and assess students for possible communication disorders as identified through Rule 51. Designs, implements, and collects documentation on the delivery of services to each identified student. Works collaboratively with students, parents, building staff, and other Individual Education Program team members to provide and implement IEP services to enhance a student's progress in the general curriculum/environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid NE Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Speech-Language Pathology, preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid NE DHHS Speech-Language Pathologist license, preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, preferred. Clinical fellowship year supervision provided, if needed.

Job Title: Student Summer Intern

Reports To: Summer School Principal
Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Part-time, Temporary, Non-exempt, Maximum of 30 hours/week during identified summer school dates
Salary Schedule: This is a non-negotiated position. Wages are administrated consistent with board policy.
**Seniors graduating this spring will be eligible for an hourly rate of $17.50 per hour as they are no longer considered current high school students.**
Position Purpose: The Student Summer Intern for the Omaha Public Schools (OPS) will provide teaching assistance to elementary age students - Kindergarten - 2nd Grade. This individual will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to provide one to one and small group tutoring and assistance in the classroom. The intern will carry out classroom and instructional duties to support student learning and growth.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Provides teaching assistance to other students under the direction of the classroom teacher
Works one to one or in small groups to provide tutoring assistance and reinforce learning objectives
Assists students with educational technology to include software
Models appropriate behaviors for students
Develops and maintains a professional rapport with classroom teacher and other staff
Ability to perform routine classroom management and maintenance duties
Serves as a backup for other staff as needed

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the classroom teacher, principal or other administrative staff as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment: This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with OPS's guidelines for equipment use.
