Summary
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the stripping, buffing and waxing of floor surfaces throughout the hospital in accordance with safety and sanitation practices set forth by guidelines provided. May also assist in general housekeeping duties such as room/office cleaning; restroom maintenance, trash collection, or other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Preferred High School Diploma Minimum 18 years of age. Ability to read and write well enough to identify chemical agents, follow strict isolation procedures and complete paperwork
Less than 2 years Minimum of one year of janitorial and floor care experience, preferably in a health care setting. Preferred
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Ability to plan and execute floor care projects with minimal guidance from the supervisor/manager of EVS. Effective interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to communicate housekeeping activities with patients, staff and visitors.

We are a close knit, collaborative and busy group seeking a clinically oriented physician who will practice at one or more of our clinical sites and will participate in resident and medical student education. We are faculty of the Wake Forest School of Medicine and currently host clinical students and will have a full four-year medical school campus in Charlotte in 2025. We have a growing perinatal research program and are supported by an experienced research team including a PhD investigator. We are currently a division of 11 physicians, 4 full-time nurse practitioners, 5 genetic counselors and a large group of talented sonographers and support staff. We offer primarily consultative care but do full-scope prenatal care in our resident clinic. We staff a busy inpatient antepartum service and cover select labor and delivery day shifts on those weeks. Call is home-call. We value work life balance.
The Department offers OB/Gyn specialty and subspecialty services at several sites across Charlotte, primarily at Carolinas Medical Center, the academic medical center. As our EnvironmentalServicesTechnician, here's what you can expect in your day-to-day:
Performs general cleaning in patient rooms, offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, common spaces, auditoriums, and gymnasiums daily.
Cleans building floors daily, by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, shampooing, and waxing.
Pulls and removes trash.
Makes beds as part of patient room cleaning procedure.
Moves furniture, changes mattresses, stocks supply, or performs other related services as needed
Assists with the set-up and arrangement of tables, chairs, ladders, scaffolding, trash etc. for events.
Provides laundry service and luggage movement for patients from admission to discharge.

Summary
EnvironmentalServicesTechnician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient rooms and assigned areas for Sanford Health patients, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks that the individual will be responsible for include but not limited to; emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
Job Description
Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment; ability to apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients and facility staff. May be responsible for the following locations to clean but not limited to; patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met. Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines. Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy. EnvironmentalServicesTechnicians will have access to pagers and other technology that they will be responsible to use appropriately when needed. Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate. Depending upon location and availability of programs, may have access to use of Sanford technology applications. Physical activities include but not limited to, considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull up variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps. This position will require the individual to be on their feet for the majority of their shift. May be exposed to certain levels of noise with the equipment in operation. Depending on location of position, work hours will vary depending on patient needs. This may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
No formal education is required.
Must fulfill the annual continuing education requirements of the department and facility including departmental meetings, safety education and mandatory in-services. Employee must have knowledge in general day-to-day housekeeping tasks in each of the various departments/areas of the facility. Employee is also responsible for following the cleaning policy and procedure for each department while following guidelines in the use of cleaning/sanitation chemicals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, patient's exam rooms of trash and front desk office area of trash.
Sweeps and mops floor.
Using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, housekeepers wipe equipment, clean furniture, polish floors and vacuum carpets.
Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture as needed.
Dusts furniture.
Washes walls, ceiling and woodwork as needed.
Washes windows including Front Desk Area, door panels and sills.
Empties all wastebaskets.
Transports trash and waste disposal from the area to appropriate outside waste containers.
Replenishes bathroom supplies.
Pick up any trash in parking lot or immediate area.
Clean and maintain front and rear porches of facilities including windows, ash trays, trash cans, and walk ways.
Complete weekly environment cleaning task checklist and submit to Director of Operations.
Keeping informed of current and proposed regulations related to sanitation of the corporation.
Other reasonable duties as required by the DOO, CEO or designee.
