Jeff Wells, M.D., is a proven physician leader committed to improving lives through a value-based and patient-centered healthcare experience. His background includes broad-based involvement in patient care, health information technology, health policy, and managed care. He is currently the President of Marathon Health, one of the nation’s leading providers of employer-based health services. Prior to Marathon Health, Wells served as co-founder and President of OurHealth, known for its MyClinic network of primary care centers, improving access to high-quality care in Charlotte, N.C., Indianapolis, Ind., and Cincinnati, Ohio. Wells was instrumental in the transaction that combined Marathon Health and OurHealth in early 2020. Dr. Wells was the youngest person ever to direct the Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning where he was responsible for ensuring value-driven care was provided to over one million Hoosiers. He completed his MD/MBA degree at Indiana University School of Medicine and Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis and is trained in internal medicine. An Indianapolis native, Jeff is active in the community and has served on the boards of the Heroes Foundation and YPO Indiana. He and his wife, Jona, have three kids and live in Indianapolis. Specialties: Value-based healthcare, health reform, Medicaid transformation, leadership, consumer engagement and transparency, strategic planning, health informatics, disruptive innovation, care and disease management, and delivery system (especially primary care) redesign.
