  • The Diversity at OpenFin

    Open to New Ideas

It's no secret that diverse work cultures in the financial services and fintech industries are scarce. In fact, not only has diversity and inclusion not changed in those industries, but it's actually gotten worse.

"We have actually gone backward," said Tim Dinsdale, CTO. "The percentage of women qualifying with computer science degrees has gone down since the 1980s [37% at the time]. This translates directly into hiring data. It doesn't yet show us the subsequent promotion or retention numbers. Achieving gender equality is urgent, rather than a badge of honor."

OpenFin is working hard to change that. The company believes that diversity is particularly good for business. "Companies have a commitment to their investors to attract and retain as much talent as possible, and that absolutely includes a genuine commitment to D&I," said Dinsdale.

OpenFin is serious about gender equality because they believe if you're hiring people with the same experiences and backgrounds, then you could be missing talented employees. The more variety in opinions you can bring to the table, the easier you're going to be able to solve problems.

That's why the company is a huge supporter of the We Are The City Tech Women 100 awards. The awards are the first of their kind to focus on the female tech talent pipeline. At OpenFin, you're more than a number and you're more than your gender, race, etc. You're valued by the ideas and solutions you can bring to the table.
