Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. Collaborates with resident and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Whether you're a newly graduated RN or have years of experience as an RN, this position offers an opportunity to work independently and with a team of motivated professionals to provide ongoing collaboration and learning.

Qualifications
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Summary:
The CVOR registered nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients, as well as assisting in monitoring and supporting the patient throughout the surgical procedure. They collaborate closely with the entire surgical team to ensure the optimization of patient outcomes by confirming all necessary surgical supplies and equipment are sterile and functional, assisting with safe patient positioning and draping, and coordinating immediate post-surgical continued patient care.
Essential Work Functions:
Maintain proficiency in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeries
Prepare the Cardiovascular operating room for the patient and surgical procedure
Assemble equipment, supplies, medications, and implants, ensuring equipment functions and supplies are available
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical team to deliver coordinated care
Utilize data from surgical preference cards for the surgical procedure and surgeon
Position patients safely using approved devices to prevent injury and enable optimal surgical exposure
Actively participate in Universal Protocol and timeout to confirm patient identity, procedure, and surgical site
Handle and document specimens accurately to ensure diagnostic integrity
Provide post-surgical care coordination, including patient handoff to the recovery team
Assess, plan, and evaluate the nursing care of the patient before, during, and after a surgical procedure until patient handoff to the next phase of care
Ensure that sterile procedures are followed throughout the course of surgery
Respond effectively to emergencies, such as cardiac arrest, during surgery
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills

Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The OR RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and adheres to the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics in a dynamic surgical environment.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure
Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements
Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique
Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow
Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon
Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols
Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results
Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly
Participates in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care
Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols
Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards
Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse in our behavioral health programs job is both Programmatic and direct medical care for the organization's Intensive Residential Treatment Services program. Work at this level is both clinical, supervisory, and direct care. Responsible for direct oversight of client's medical care, medication administration procedures, and oversight of professional and paraprofessional staff administering medications.
To be responsible for monitoring client health status while in the program.
Assess client health at intake and monitor while in the program.
Referrals to and coordination with community psychiatric care providers.
Refer client to or perform annual physical exam if due.
Address the needs of recipients with co-occurring Substance Abuse Disorder.
Assess all medical emergencies, including substance abuse problems.
To assure safe handling and administration of medications.
Create documentation procedures and forms that assure medications will be used as prescribed.
Train staff in using proper administration and documentation procedures.
Observe staff for competency in administering medications and other health related procedures.
Educate staff regarding medications, side-effects, and drug interactions.
Educate clients regarding their specific medications, side-effects, and drug interactions.
Train staff in first aid techniques and response to medical emergencies.
Provide on-going consultation and advice to staff and clients.
Order medications as needed.
Supervise destruction of medications.
To maintain open and honest communication with the Program Director and Treatment Supervisor and other staff promoting the concept of teamwork and support.
Inform Program Director and Treatment Supervisor of all significant happenings.
Communicates client and program needs to Program Director and Treatment Supervisor other staff via timely written and verbal communication.
Promptly respond to client and staff emergencies in a supportive manner.
Attend weekly team meetings.
Monitors medication administration programs with assistance of medical staff (i.e. RN, LPN, etc.)
Qualifications:
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Must have a valid license to practice in the State of Minnesota.
• Qualified Mental Health Practitioner in accordance with M Statute 245.462 Subdivision 17 (preferred)
• Must have professional experience in direct service to individuals with mental health issues and experience in management and supervision.
• Must have a sincere desire to work with and promote the delivery of culturally competent services.
