How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Training & Advancement

Qualifications & Requirements
A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement to become a Commissioned Officer. You must also attend Officer Training. There may be exceptions to the degree requirements based on extensive service experience. Additional qualifications include:

Part-Time Opportunities
When serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Nurse, your duties are carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Nurse Corps Officers in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, you may serve anywhere in the world, including locations in the U.S., at bases overseas, or in areas where humanitarian needs are great.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Nursesin the Navy Reserve serve in an Officer role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with this job, initial training requirements must first be met.

Allen County s REGISTERED NURSE Department: Allen County Juvenile Center - Nursing FLSA Status: Non-exempt Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostics, the Registered Nurse provides accepted principles and practices of nursing consistent with local, state, and federal law within the Allen County Juvenile Center. This position is covered under the Superior Court Employee Handbook. This is an employee-at-will position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for conducting medical assessments of confined juveniles including charting all significant medical concerns, treatments, medications and future needs.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments to confined juveniles.
Conducts weekly medical clinic with physician, assisting physician as needed and maintaining all records and charts as directed.
Schedules and/or coordinates appointments with other treatment providers including physicians, dentists and psychiatrist.
Conducts daily sick call and responds to needs for emergency care and first aid, arranging for further hospital or physician care as necessary.
Notifies Allen County Juvenile Center administration and intake personnel of medical problems with residents. Maintains communication with parents to inform them of health related problems and responds to related request and inquiries.
Prepares and conducts First Aid and CPR training sessions for Allen County Juvenile Center staff and other Court personnel.
Monitors inventory of medical and health services office supplies, completing and submitting purchase orders. Inspects and renews first aid kits on a monthly basis.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Degree inNursing and one year experience innursingIndiana State Registered Nurse License in good standing
Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED
Knowledge of all local, state, and federal laws applicable to the Allen County Juvenile Center's health operations
Ability to prepare and maintain confidential medical records of detained juveniles as required
Knowledge of accepted principles and practices of nursing, with the ability to effectively examine residents, assess health needs, and provide information, treatment and referrals as needed
Ability to use Microsoft Office including Excel
Ability to use syringes, Sphygmomanometer, thermometer and stethoscope
DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
The Registered Nurse performs work that is broad in scope and of substantial intricacy when conducting medical assessments for confined juveniles. Judgment is needed when responding to emergency situations and applying First Aid and/or administering CPR.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Registered Nurse provides major contributions when assisting the physician in conducting the weekly medical clinic. Decisions are reviewed for attainment of objectives and compliance with agency policy.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The Registered Nurse maintains frequent contact with other County employees, treatment providers and juveniles and their families while conducting medical assessments for confined juveniles.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Registered Nurse works in a maximum security juvenile detention facility with frequent standing and the ability to move about freely. Some lifting of up to sixty pounds, reaching over head and kneeling exists and frequent bending is required. Very frequent reaching over head, typing, attention to detail, monitoring equipment, detailed inspection and proofreading is required and some exposure to dangerous equipment, chemical and noise exists. The Registered Nurse frequently works with juveniles who may potentially be violent and/or aggressive.
