Operating room nurse job in Laredo, TX
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and monitoring health care to students in collaboration with the wellness director, physician and health staff and maintaining the daily clinical operations of the Wellness Center in compliance with the Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) and Health Care Guidelines.
Essential Functions
* Assists in applicant folder reviews as directed to determine health needs.
* Assists in coordinating and conducting cursory and comprehensive health assessments for all new students within PRH-specified timeframes.
* Assesses patient health needs and implements nursing care plans and chronic care plans as indicated, within scope of practice.
* Make available and monitor student prescribed and non-prescribed medication for compliance and document appropriately per state laws and PRH Appendix 203.
* Ensures student health files are accurate, up-to-date, and maintained in strict compliance with HIPAA laws and PRH Chapter 2 requirements, and that student privacy is always protected.
* Maintains communication with all off-Center referrals and health care providers for students.
* Provide periodic on-call nursing support utilizing company-issued cellphone.
* Performs and interprets diagnostics procedures and administers therapeutic treatments and preventive measures under the guidance of the physician and wellness director, within scope of practice.
* Coordinate daily clinical operations of the Wellness center.
* Provide staff training and evaluation of staff performance.
* Collaborates with recreation and food service departments to design programs and food choices to promote healthy lifestyles.
* Provides a leadership role on the center's Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles (HEALs) Committee in compliance with PRH Chapter 2 to promote an environment that supports healthy eating and active lifestyles.
* Participates in case management meetings as needed to plan student wrap-around services.
* Complies with all state and federal regulations regarding controlled medications and in strict compliance with PRH Appendix 203, "Medication Management Guidelines."
* Assists in completing the appropriate OWCP form(s) whenever a student is injured as outlined in the PRH.
* Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
* Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.
* Promote a harassment-free environment.
* Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student's personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience Minimum
Active, unrestricted registered nurse license covering the state in which the Job Corps center is located, two years of RN experience, and one year of nursing supervision experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively work with youth. Willingness to provide periodic on-call nursing support. Information technology proficiency including MS Office.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree and four years of associated experience.
