JOB SUMMARY The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing patient care based upon the nursing process; being effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients throughout the perioperative process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse shall oversee and guide employees that are under his/her supervision and collaborate with surgical team to strategize, implement, and evaluate care plans for each patient. The Registered Nurse is under the direction of the Director of Nursing or the ASC Administrator. JOB DESCRIPTION

Perform initial pre-op assessment and formulates appropriate plan of care for a positive patient outcome.
Provide competent care in circulating cases and efficiently providing equipment/supplies based on patients' need.
Effectively maintains sterile field by practicing aseptic techniques.
Accurately documents patient health records.
Provides high quality care while using resources efficiently.
Communicate appropriate data to the physician and other patient care team members.
Interpret and implement physician's orders; perform treatments according to accepted standards and policies; evaluate and document effectiveness of treatments.
Anticipate potential patient problems and take the necessary precautions to minimize those problems to ensure patient safety in OR and ASC
Identify and report unsafe practice and/or procedures to promote compliance.
Demonstrate knowledge and skill requirements regarding his/her role in the Safety Management Program (Safety/Security), Infection Control, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, Medical Equipment and Utility Systems, and his/her expected level of participation. Submit documentation of annual updates.
Interact professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, patient's families, visitors, members of the public and co-workers.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, read and return all monthly staff meeting minutes in a timely manner.
Encourage and promote cross training activities for professional growth and in order to contribute to the overall function of the Center.
Ensure that supplies and equipment are available for patient care.
Maintain and submit documentation of required current licensure and/or certification.
Attend staff meetings, read and return all monthly meeting minutes. Attendance record not to fall below 8 out of the 12 annual staff meetings
Responsible for knowing current policies and procedures, protocol and practices of the Center.
Function within scope of practice based on licensure, education, skills and experience; Recognize limitations and asks for guidance when necessary.
CNOR preferred but not required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Currently active State Registered Nursing License
Current BLS and ACLS certification
IV Sedation course completion and certification upon hire preferred.
Exceptional knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
Proven experience as operating room nurse
In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions (AORN Standards)
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center.
Effective communicator-- appreciates and respects others' needs, opinions, and concerns.

Assessing patients prior to surgery and alleviating their concerns.
Gathering all supplies needed for surgery.
Assuming responsibility of keeping the operating room a sterile environment.

Position and prepare patients on operating table.
Pass medical instruments or other supplies to the surgeon during surgery if required.
Monitor patient's during and immediate post operatively.
Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned.
Adhere to safety standards and precautions.
Demonstrates current, comprehensive, professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies including the Patient Bill of Rights and AAAHC regulations, Standards for Nursing Care and the Nurse Practice Act
Knowledge of government regulations, HIPAA, documentation standards, and other compliance standards and ability to work in full compliance.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
Ability to communicate in a professional manner-- able to counsel/teach customers, train co-workers, and positively contribute to marketing/public relations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical and business community.
Proficient computer skills- ability to accurately update and manage and electronic healthcare record.
Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor.
HOURS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Our ASC is located in Orlando, FL. The job will be Monday thru Friday. Work hours may be subject to change, depending on surgery schedule. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent is responsible for giving ordered treatments, administer prescribed medications, give direct ADL care and complete requirements for diagnostic procedures as requested by the attending physician on an assigned shift per established policies and procedures. Works under the direct supervision of the Senior Registered Nurse Supervisor.
* Receive verbal orders, including telephone orders from attending physicians.
* Transcribes physician's orders to all appropriate documents on an assigned shift per established policies and procedures.
* Make rounds with physicians and other health care personnel per established policies and procedures.
* Monitor physician's orders for completion.
* Review and follow-up on resident incidents or complaints.
* Count narcotics at beginning and end of shift.
* Assure that narcotic records are accurate for assigned shift.
* Will provide supervision (lead worker duties) for the facility on an assigned shift as required and as defined in 60K-2.0061 (3) (d) F.A.C.
* Will supervise subordinates on assigned units.
* Review work assignments with staff on the unit and assign team members in accordance with the patient's needs, available staffing, and in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Assure assigned CNAs are in dining room on time.
* Try to solve problems with employees as required before involving supervisors.
* Recognize and respond to changes in residents' conditions as it occurs.
* Will record observations accurately and concisely.
* Notify supervisor, physician and family of changes.
* Document all notifications as they are made.
* Assist physicians with special tests and procedures as required and within the scope of the Florida Nursing Practice Act.
* Receive and give reports at the beginning and end of shift by making walking rounds with the off-going and on-coming nurse.
* On assigned residents and within the assigned time frame will: Complete, sign and date the MDS, RAP modules and additional assessments.
* Will review and update care plans; notify chairperson if changes need to be made per established policies and procedures; and attend Interdisciplinary Care Plans when requested.
* Will always maintain professional standards of nursing care.
* Follows all local, state, and federal rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department.
* Attend mandatory and non-mandatory in-services, meetings, Care Plans and MDS as required.
* Will ensure economic utilization of supplies and proper charging of items to residents' accounts.
* Ensure equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
* Will maintain valid CPR certification and perform as needed.
* Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
