Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is seeking a **Certified Surgical Tech (CST)** for our Main Operating Room in Boise! This site is a Level II Trauma Center, offering definitive care for critically injured patients throughout the region.
Certified Surgical Technologists prepare rooms, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. They are responsible for complying with safety policies, recognizing & correcting breaks in aseptic technique, performing equipment checks for proper functionality, and reviewing/updating surgeon preference cards.
Our ideal candidate has the knowledge and skills to care for patients of all ages while communicating effectively with surgical teams and supervisory staff. They will have the ability to anticipate and prioritize surgeon needs, as well as independently manage instrument, sponge, and sharp counts for all procedures.
**Position Highlights and Benefits:**
+ Schedule Information: This is a full-time benefited position working on day shift (4-10s: 7am-5:30pm or 3-12s: 7am-7:30pm). Weekday call (Monday-Friday) is not required but some weekend call is required.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or as a Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT required.
+ **_Basic Life Support_** for healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
**What You Will Do:**
+ Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).
+ Demonstrates compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of cautery safety (grounding pad and cautery use during procedure).
+ Recognizes breaks in aseptic technique and takes immediate corrective action.
+ Demonstrates equipment checks to assure proper functioning.
+ Updates and reviews surgeon preference cards.
+ Able to gown and glove other members of the perioperative 'sterile' team.
+ Able to gown and glove self through use of closed and open method.
+ Able to independently function in at least one other specialty area.
+ Anticipates and prioritizes surgeon needs. Communicates with RN Circulator to obtain needed resources. LPNs may function under the Nurse Practice Action with RN supervision.
+ Responsible for technical equipment and supplies (e.g., inventory, usage, organization, maintenance in own specialty area).
+ Trouble-shoots equipment within own specialty to bring to resolution.
+ Independently manages instrument, sponge and sharp counts for all procedures in specialty areas and all procedures assigned outside of specialty.
+ Assists and/or follows direction of the RN Circulator to set up a room and obtain equipment, etc.
+ Entry level with completion of a Certified Surgical Tech program.

Determine donor suitability in accordance with all applicable regulatory agencies and Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform physical examinations for donors and review accumulated data in a timely manner to confirm established donor suitability.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Administer and document regularly prescribed medications per the Medication Administration record observing the five rights for safe administering of meds and per physician orders.
Order meds from the pharmacy when and as prescribed, 7 days prior to running out of meds, and as requested by the Wellness Director to ensure that residents always have medications available. Ensure these medications arrive, if not notify the Wellness Director within 24 hours.
Immediately after administering medication to a resident, document in the resident's medical record those medications given. Date and initial the bubble pack after taking the medication from it.
Observe and report to the licensed nurse reactions and side effects of medication administered to the residents.
Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications which could affect or change vital signs as ordered by the Physician or Wellness Director.
Administer PRN medications, per physician order.
Required to report any medication error to the Wellness Director immediately.
Assist with development and review of the resident's care plan in conjunction with other disciplines
Ensure residents privacy, respect and dignity
Detect, correct, and report unsafe conditions which may result in harm to a resident
Assure physical comfort, safety, and mental well-being of residents
Assist in daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment of residents, such as toileting, grooming, bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair and nails, moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc.

Job Tasks to Serve Residents as MED TECH:
Providing accurate, timely medication services to our residents is critical to their well-being. Gives the right medicine at the right time to the right resident in the right dosage
Observes residents and verifies medications were ingested or applied
Sets-up medication and provides medication under direction of nurse
Signs medication documentation accurately and timely
Orders and re-orders medications
Assists with medical charting

About the Opportunity
The Medication Aide administers prescribed medications and treatments to residents who need assistance in accordance with state regulatory stipulations and requirements for safe administration. Observes the resident taking the medication, notes effects including any unexpected or adverse effects, correctly documents the required information in the residents' medication administration records, communicates any concerns or observations with the Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator or designated personnel. The Medication Aide also supports residents with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, socialization, cognition, and physical health. Encourages resident independence, supports resident choice and preserves resident dignity through professional conduct and interactions.
Critical Success Factors
Successful completion of medication assistance training in compliance with the state's regulatory requirements and facility requirements.
Maintains up-to-date medication certification requirements according to state regulations.
Compassionate and empathetic in personal interactions.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
