Job Summary
The Registered Nurse, operating room, provides nursing care and service during surgery cases. The RN will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case. Experienced in surgical procedures in the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Currently licensed in the state. CPR required, advanced life support certification required.
One year experience required intra-operative setting.
Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.

* Maintain equipment necessary for the application of basic life support as outlined by company policy and MIEMSS regulated equipment/supply standards. Report any equipment or supply deficiencies immediately to the Communications Center.
* Working as a team to complete all transport requests safely and timely.
* Complying with all policies and procedures, including the holdover policy.
* Ability to work overtime when needed and ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays.
* Knowledge of road safety and navigation in the areas we serve.
* Assemble paperwork necessary for the transfer of patient care. Accurately, honestly, and comprehensively record all pertinent information on a handwritten "Short Form" PCR (Patient Care Report) and full Electronica Patient Care Report.
* Documentation shall include reason/explanation of medical necessity for ambulance transport and a full detailed explanation as to why the patient could not be transported safely by any other means. It should include how the patient was put onto the stretcher, all diagnosis, medical history and present condition. If there is no medical necessity, the report must explain the patient's condition and why the patient could safely transport in other vehicle.
* All related signatures must be obtained for each patient care record in accordance with Medicare signature requirements, including an explanation of why the patient is unable to sign, if applicable. The Electronic Patient Care Report must be completed immediately but in no event later than the end of the applicable shift.
* Obtain verbal report from facility staff passing on patient care to you and obtain transfer or discharge summary.
* Provide verbal report to facility staff when passing patient care on to another individual and obtain appropriate signatures.
* Attend and complete any required training or continuing education mandated by Procare or MIEMSS. Annual training is mandatory.
* Represent company and yourself in a positive light at all times and treat peers, patients, clients and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
* Follow all applicable laws, rules, and regulations in all aspects of the job.

Summary
Position Summary: Provides safe, high quality patient care as a member of a physician directed healthcare team at NWHC. Under the direction and supervision of an attending surgeon, perform a variety of physician assistant duties and technical procedures on the hospital floors, Emergency Room or other areas of the hospital to assist in the delivery of health care services to the patient. Essential Functions: Clinical Practice Provides direct and indirect patient care optimizing patient safety. Works proactively and in collaboration with other team members. Tasks: Acts as a care coordinator for surgeons, referring physicians, nursing staff, etc. Screens patients and performs complete histories and physical examinations. Orders/prescribes necessary medications, laboratory and radiologic studies, routine fluids, diets, patient activities and similar patient care orders. Performs surgical assistant responsibilities to including handling tissue, providing exposure, using instruments, suturing and tying and providing hemostasis. Respond to the Emergency Room to manage and/or assist with trauma resuscitation. Instruct patients on discharge information, home care of wounds, use of medication, diet or other aspects of health care.

* Maintaining ambulance and equipment. Ensure that vehicles, supplies, and equipment are in proper working condition to transport patients in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
* Maintain the cosmetic appearance of assigned ambulance and complete vehicle and supply checks daily as required by MIEMSS and Procare policy. Report any mechanical deficiencies to the Communications Center.
* Maintain equipment necessary for the application of basic life support as outlined by company policy and MIEMSS regulated equipment/supply standards. Report any equipment or supply deficiencies immediately to the Communications Center.
* Working as a team to complete all transport requests safely and timely.
* Complying with all policies and procedures, including the holdover policy.
* Ability to work overtime when needed and ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays.
* Knowledge of road safety and navigation in the areas we serve.
* Assemble paperwork necessary for the transfer of patient care. Accurately, honestly, and comprehensively record all pertinent information on a handwritten "Short Form" PCR (Patient Care Report) and full Electronica Patient Care Report.
* Documentation shall include reason/explanation of medical necessity for ambulance transport and a full detailed explanation as to why the patient could not be transported safely by any other means. It should include how the patient was put onto the stretcher, all diagnosis, medical history and present condition. If there is no medical necessity, the report must explain the patient's condition and why the patient could safely transport in other vehicle.
* All related signatures must be obtained for each patient care record in accordance with Medicare signature requirements, including an explanation of why the patient is unable to sign, if applicable. The Electronic Patient Care Report must be completed immediately but in no event later than the end of the applicable shift.
* Obtain verbal report from facility staff passing on patient care to you and obtain transfer or discharge summary.
* Provide verbal report to facility staff when passing patient care on to another individual and obtain appropriate signatures.
* Attend and complete any required training or continuing education mandated by Procare or MIEMSS. Annual training is mandatory.
* Represent company and yourself in a positive light at all times and treat peers, patients, clients and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
